Corolla Altis 1.6 2015 extreme low average

A Toyota Corolla 1.6 2015 driven 20K km is giving an average of 7.5km on city roads and 9.5km on motorway. Only driven on Shell Unlead and VPower mixed. Don't suspect the catalytic to be choke. Engine tuning, air filter, and oil replaced, no results.

Plugs are company installed, haven't been changed yet. I'm from Lahore. Mechanic said Catalytic doesn't get choked so early.

Get your car thoroughly checked by Toyota.
Do you have engine check light on?

No engine check light. Toyota says its normal. Other members on the forum say otherwise.

Yes, I'm the first owner. The car is driven very seldom. Using Shell (blue) oil.

Normal is 10 or above in city & 15 or above on highway/motorway if driven normally.
I own previous gen. Altis 1.6. Your car has something severly wrong.

Do you use this car for short trips which are under 10kms?
If yes then this is the mileage you are expected to get.

Just reset the average once on motorway or highway and drive at 80-100km/h for around 100km and then post the results.

Do check tire air pressure regularly. Mine gives 10.5 local. Also reset the average on fuel refill.

I just bought new Toyota Corolla Altis, the new shape. Purchased early Dec 2017.
I drive it extremely carefully in order to get best fuel average and the best score is 9.8 km / L. There is no way I would believe it can do better than that in the city. I yet have to check mileage on the motorway.

Your car is new, it will give best average after 5000 kms or so. Fuel consumption varies on different factors however the figure quoted 7.5 in City & 9.5 on motorway is extremely pathetic, its a 1.6L compact sedan not an offroad suv.

So, a stage well set here for Garamaaandeyyy fanatics to bash Altis 1.6 and create doubts over its mileage etc.. There is no such 'extremely pathetic' issues there.

I also own an Altis 1.6 year 2015 driven 87K KM. The average in city is above 9.5km/l. On highway 12.3 if I drive at or above 120 km/h. however I have obtained 14.8 km/h recently when I drive 80 to 110 km/h on GT Road from DG Khan to Lahore. The more frequently you use brakes, less average you get. Also I usually keep 30 pounds tyre pressure and am using Michelin Energy tyres.

Your stated average is too low to be realistic.

But 15km/l is also too low. Reason is Toyota Pakistan is still using 3rd generation engines while 4th gen engines have much better fuel efficiency and can give better than 18km/l easily.
