Corolla Grande 2016 - Pre FL - Maintenance Ideas

I'm driving a 2017 Corolla GLI (pre FL) these days and since I have to travel for work via the same route every alternative day, I have been noting the handling and grippiness. Despite trying to emulate the same speed, same brakes on the same route, I still haven't observed any fault mechanically which I could pin to my car's slipping.. at times I think it was the wrong place at the wrong time. Allah khair karey.
(As I've already mentioned multiple times, I'm very inexperienced in matters pertaining to cars.. so my opinion is definitely not the most reliable one out there)

I'll definitely look into getting the car lowered and have a detailed review of your suspension thread and hopefully incorporate that when repairing my car. Thank you.
Some of my daily route involves a lot of potholes.. do you think such marginal lowering will have a negligible impact on those roads?

Thank you for the tips brother. I'm waiting on getting the final parts list. Will start looking once I have the complete list in hand. Was hoping to look for an NCP for parts but turns out this shape Corolla is a rarity in the NCP market as well ..

Need one opinion from seniors.. since 1 out of the 4 original rims has broken (oem 15inch).. should I stay with the same tire size or should I consider upgrading to 16inch default specs of the facelifted variants because I am considering overall facelifting the car since most of the front has to be replaced anyway (headlights and bumper are broken, but the front fenders are intact)

And considering my traveling where I have certain rough patches on the road which tyre company would be preferred..
I was running the original general tyres as mentioned but since 3 out of 4 tyres have been cut (post accident) I'll need new ones. I have read favorable reviews for Yokohama Advan db and Continental CC6.. but Yoko is notorious for being soft (prone to punctures as soms reviews have said).. so I think CC6 would be better.

Were the general tyres the ones that came with the car from factory or those were replaced after? (you can check manufacturing date on tyres).

I'd recommend going for Yokohama tyres (Advan Db or BluEarth with 16" rims)

Yes they were never changed. Stock tyres.
I have heard that Yokohama are quite soft and very prone to punctures not sure what the truth is since never experienced a tyre change. All our home cars have stayed on stock tyres. So it will be a first experiment with new tyres.

Pay as many as u can an expert can easily trace out that car is accidented repaint and repaired and will not offer the good price in the end and u will think that whats the benefit of spending an huge amount on repairing the car is already doing a loss of huge amount at the point of sale at this time every one is expert now days

70k driven, 6 year old general eurostar tyres are very much prone to skid. General tyres are hard and they can cover high mileage with careful driving but rubber isn't that good on Eurostar series. Durable yes, comfortable and grippy? No.

If u plan to keep the car then go for 16" rims. Regarding tyres it's upto you. I'd recommend BG Luxo (civic X stock tyre) or any official import(non smuggled) Imported tyre. (Brand and series) depends on availability.

I'm happy with the grip of General BG Luxo I have on my corolla. Almost 3 years and not a single puncutre.

On the contrary my city 2020's stock tyres (Eurostars) have lost comfort and grip within a year of driving (12000 KM mileage). So from my experience BG Luxo is quite superior over Eurostars and a better budget option rather than going for unknown brand Chinese tyres.

riding / driving a car with 6 year old (70,000 km) damage repair tires is itself a high risk.
usually in a vehicle user manual, Tyre change is recommended at 40,000 kms or 3 years which ever comes 1st.

at lawrence road (KMC workshop) in Karachi, There is a huge market of indus motors new body parts sold under lot auctions. Pay a visit you may find doors & bumpers at a reasonable price better then scrapyard items.

i'd recommend to stick with stock wheel size and General tyres from fresh production, under driving conditions mentioned by you.

Yes it is highly likely that the fault was in delayed maintenance. A friend said that it could also be because the EBD malfunctioned.. I'm not sure. It was in my todo list but alas. A stitch in time saves nine.

The conditions I mentioned.. its basically a small stretch of the road filled with potholes and unpaved road (roughly half a km long stretch) but it is unavoidable on my way to work. So yes.

I was inclined towards moving to 16s in hopes of somewhat reducing the arch gap and since I have to buy a new set of Rims and wheels anyway (and the headlights and bumper too) I was, and still, to a degree am, inclined towards facelifting the car.

Yes EBD is supposed to distribute brake pressure on individual wheels so that wheels with less grip don't turn the car in unwanted direction.

Going for 2018 Face lift or Corolla X style?

Headlights would be expensive, Kabuli LED original headlights were about 1 lac last time I checked. X face lift bumpers are around 30k I think.

i'd recommend to keep it stock.
otherwise at time of disposal you may have to lie for questions by a skilled buyer, about accident / repairs undertaken during ownership.

Corolla X style. That was pretty much my intention when I got the car.. planned to get all the maintenance done and facelift by the end of the year. The accident has somewhat fast tracked the process. Once I have proper assurance on the condition of engine, chassis and whether changing the transmission assembly or any of the associated repairs would impact the driving comfort, I'll proceed with it.

My initial plan was to keep the car for a healthy duration.. 3 years at least and I still have the same intention if the driving comfort wont be impacted considerably.

@capsat I was planning to be honest about the condition of the car whenever I sell it since lying would be a futile endeavor in any case. Esp considering how everyone is very intelligent when it comes to buying cars these days

Same situation happened with me on chaklala road. My car lost control but thankfully it regained control. I had new Conti UC6 215, probably that's why i survived
