Corolla Grande Shocks( Dealership or Market)

Aoa guys

So the question is that my car is 2020 model grande and is driver 85000 kms
I feel i should change the Shocks now
So im confused either to buy from market or from dealership

I have read somewhere on the forum that there is a difference between the shocks that you buy from dealership and the ones that you buy from market
Is this true?

Previously i had replaced rear shocks with agriauto ones bought from market
But yes i did feel a difference between the genuine ones and these
The car felt in different way before and has less grip at back now
Maybe im wrong

Also brake pads selling at dealership are made in thailand where i bought Japanese green pads from market around 7000 cheaper than them

So im confused
Is there really a difference? Or they are same
Kindly clear me on this issue as i have to replace the shocks with the best option available
Don't want to compromise on ride quality

Cant loose shocks at 85k
Re check if other suspension issue
Also oem shocks are Agri and they are local

A very wise comment. I have gone through the same albeit with a Corolla Xli Automatic 2019, with approx. 95,000 KMs on the oddo. I purchased Agro's shocks from Parts Central and the prices were fairly uniform (for the authentic part). Didn't check with the dealership, although after digging through, I realised that the suspension issue was more due to the front bearings. Good to have a fresh suspension with updated shocks though

Sir i live in a village area where roads are not that good or maybe there no roads at all somewhere

The shocks have not given up but they have become soft
The car is nose diving on high speed braking and the stopping distance has also increased

The suspension is ok nothing to look there for because i have done the suspension greasing and bearings changed 5 months ago and the car hasnt been used that much after that

This is the only issue im facing that the car is soft from front and hard at back

Im just confused that where should i get the socks from

As i have read on forum many people say that the shocks which dealership is providing are OEM and the ones available jn market are not that good

Just want to be clear on this

The shock are not leaking
They are not making any noise

They just have become soft
And i assume if they have become very soft they might put load on suspension and springs

I intend to keep the car for another year or two
Thats why want to go for the better decision

Showed it to a mechanic
He also said that the shocks have become softer thats why the car is nose diving on brakes
And the abs engages early too

85K is nothing for this Car (if genuine milleage ) - While driving in bumpy road or potholes if you find shock getting stuck and does not get back to its normal condition that's the main point you can also check this in idle car it make a car bit imbalance while driving.

So as you mentioned no oil leakage or sound then I guess it's the tyres. Chinese tyres gets hard over few years / 20-25K KM's

The issue is that on hard braking the car is lowering down from front and on releasing brake it comes back up and because of that braking distance has increased
Im have recently changed brake pads with genuine toyota
Car is is first owner
I have already replaced rear shocks at 65000 kms because on putting weight car was lowering down too much

Is it necessary for a strut to leak? I mean cant they go bad without leaking?

Not necessary but in that case the mileage should be more then what you shared.

This is how it responds when one do hard braking - when it's getting back as soon as brake is released that's all for shocks they are doing there job

The thing I want to explain here - the tyres have different traction and it affects overall braking efficiency.

That's normal with 1.6 and 1.8 both got softer suspension they got more softer after years of use and many kilometers no need to worried. It touches speed breaker with 3 average weighing people at back. Also XLi GLi have little stiff suspension compare to 1.6 and 1.8 so you should not compare thema with XLi GLi.

in 2017 fl toyota made changes to suspension of grande and made it stiffer then before ..im not sure about gli or xli though as xli even had the same prefl tail lights before both got discontinued in 2020..but this is for sure that grande suspension got tweaks in fl its harder then pre fl you feel the bumps.. i have also driven fl gli and cant say for sure if its also stiffened up or not looked similar to me but as gli has the same 195 eurostars and altis grande had upgraded 205 r16s it sure made a difference in ride as compare to before the drive is more stiffer and stable although not as grounded as something like a civicx or xi obv.

difference is price
3S has to show and charge 18% GST on parts making it higher then local market

also if you want to loose the spongy feel of grande, go for KYB shocks.they are stiffer

I understand every car dives a bit but this is diving a bit more than usual
Also the rear shocks needed replacement at 65k

This car has been to northern areas 3 4 times and 1 times to Balochistan also and is mostly driven on rough or no roads

It was stiffer at front before but now its soft
That is the main reason im thinking that the shocks have lived their life
