Well this marks the end of my search for components & wiring (I have decided to go for Fusion 4AWG wiring). I have ordered the following

1)Boston Acoustics Pro60 SE 6-3/4" component speaker system at Crutchfield.com
2)Alpine SPX-17REF (spx17ref) - 6-1/2" Component Speakers System - Sonic Electronix

Yes, Ill be getting both of them and selling one of them. I might also keep both of them and sell Fusion components I have in another car (if financials permit)

I opted against Polk Audio (despite very good reviews) because everyone said it lacked mid bass which I very much want. DLS MS6A were not available therefore couldn't go for them. DLS R6A however were available but my research shows that nothing beats the Boston Accoustics comps.

I went for Alpine Type X because I am in love with the brand. From the moment I heard Alpine (for the first time in my corolla 2000 model which had stock Alpine casette player, changer and speakers), I was in love with them and always wanted to try them but couldn't due to various issues/problems. Now that I had a chance, I could not resist.

Delivery is after 27th Sept. so it will be a long wait

Guys i need urgent advice from all of you. A friend of mine who is into car audio told me today that the boston acoustics components i bought wont fit in my corolla because they are 6.75" in size compared to 6.5" opening in corolla plus the crossovers are quite big in size and wont fit behind the plastic door panel along with the midrange.

Is he correct? Please help me out as ive spent a fortune on these comps

dont put the crossovers in the doors ever...they will be ruined if water gets in there...thats the most silly location to install them. install them under the seat, or in the trunk....but not in doors yar :S

the components might still fit. if not, just use spacers. its not a big issue...

6.75 wont be a porblem, you only need to get a MDF spacer to fit the 6.75 speaker.

BTW why have you chosen the Bostons ?

I decided to go for BA because they had some very good reviews, were being used in competitions and I got them at a very good price. Anyways its too late now as I've returned the product and its replacement is arriving by day end today (next morning in USA). Infinity Kappa 60.9cs it is

Finally after alot of issues with international credit cards/fitting issues etc etc. I was finally able to order the stuff below. Morel Tempo 6 components have some very good reviews and people generally rate it better than hertz HSK 165 and Focal 165 A1. These are also very hard to find and are rarely sold online. I also had some other mouthwatering options such as DLS Ultimate UP6i and Rainbow SLCs but I did not had the $$

I hope the below will result in a decent SQ setup

Also another update is that after spending a fortune on this setup, Ive decided that my GLI does not deserves this setup. This setup is going into my Altis where it will be mated with a Pioneer 4150DVD while Fusion components will be taken out of Altis and installed in GLI with Pioneer 6050UB

Thanks sir! will be auditioning them side by side with your focals. These are neutral sounding compared to focals which are on the bright side.

Also would be needing your help with the installation so that no phasing/treble setting issues occur which you identified in the fusion components

Compared to Focal Access comps (being of the same league) perhaps.... But if you are comparing it with the KRX2... naa i dont think so

Guys now almost everything is complete except

1)Rear phatta for trunk for amplifier and crossovers

What should be its approximate cost? Any specific width? Any other details/tips etc?

2)Big 3 Electrical upgrade

Do I really need it with this setup?

Phatta: well the carpenters at all road do have the stencil already made according to the size of ur car. You just have to tell them you need a phatta (amp rack) for corolla 09 or what ever the model is. But i wud recommend imported MDF, since its more strong and does not smell bad. 2nd option is ply... although not that strong but will do the job right and will not smell. Phatta will cost from 500 to 1200 depending on the material used,.

xovers, personally i like the xover installed somewhere in the cabin,so that i can easily tweak them while listening to the comps at the same time.

Big 3. Well i think if you only upgrade the 1st two parts of the Big 3, that wud be enough. Since SQ installs are not that power hungry and usually the caps inside the amps are well capable of handling the power demands.

If you want to :
1. upgrade the battery to chassis ground to atleast a 4awg wire.
2. Upgradew the engine to chassis withe a 4awg wire.
3. no need for the 3rd part

Thanks alot sir! You have been really helpful throughout! I'll be opting for the imported MDF board then and max it should be Rs. 1200 with the cloth rite? Also is there any way I can be sure what I am getting is MDF and not some cheap local chipboard? Any shop/guy you recommend on Hall road?

Regarding the crossovers I am still debating where to place them. Inside the cabin is a big no as I do not want any clutter etc. The only options are inside the door panel (risky) or trunk (lots of wiring required). Will discuss this with you further before installation

Regarding the big 2, please let me know the length of 4awg wire required (ill get stinger from bobby) and what connectors are required (spade or ring terminals etc)
