Problem is that

The moving part is correct, this was one of the original reasons for ecu fan control, the fan switches off once the vss starts reporting a certain speed.

This improves fuel economy and extends life of the part.

My ancient vw diesel had a gigantic motor (500w) running a 9 inch 6 blade jobbie.

It was directly wired from the battery to the 2 stage radiator switch, the fan wiring was intercepted by the ac compressor control for low and high speed both via diodes. A very rudimentary setup. No controllers etc, just switches.

It had a big label saying that the fan may run with car off, and boy o boy it did.. sometimes it would kick on high speed after being parked. It was enough to scare people away.

Sounded like a jet spooling up.

some people say even if radiator fan is auto which is how it should be, when ac is on the radiator fan should work full time like the condenser fan, how true is that?

it's not a rule that it SHOULD always run when A/C is on, but it should do it's job - which is maintaining the temperature.

my observation is, in peak hot summer temperatures, whenever i keep the blower fan speed to 1 position, the fan keeps tripping on / off , but as i switch the blower fan speed to 2 position (or onwards) the fan did not stop even once in 15 minutes of testing ...

BTW, my car has only one fan for raidator and condensor.

In your old setup the fan will always work whenever the compressor is engaged, this is done as the condenser is wider and is across the radiator too.

On blower speed 2 the compressor stays on longer as the evaporator has higher heatload

what if we continuously run it on speed 4 ? is it bad for any component of ac system?

no its not, you will just face more fuel usage as the system has to constantly work harder, its not bad for it as if its going out of control range the AC will simply shut down. Unless you have had the safety switch bypassed, then its real bad news.

The compressor operation is heat load dependant, (evaporator heat load) Im surprised that this is a question.

So now I have decided to save some money and do proper auto fan + tvalve setting now. For my 2003 cultus. Original engine.
I know it will be better for it. But I wonder how I should take precautions so that engine doesn't randomly heat up causing gasket failure or other probs.

One side thing im curious about is the engine top side noise. Some mechs say it is tappet cover, some say tappet box. Some say some weird names i don't remember. It wasn't making any noise (like diesel truck idling at a signal (or like revo/hilux/fortuner etc)), one time radiator fan relay was blown, fan stopped working and engine overheated.
Now i got gasket changed. Everything is fine, no overheating or anything. Except that noise is prominent now. Everyone i got it checked with says it is normal nothing to worry about.
Whereas i have a weird feeling that it is harmful.
What do I do now? Currently in no condition to spare some expenses.

Should I go for some other viscosity oil for my 2003 model cultus with own engine? Would it be risky to use thinner oil for old engine to reduce hydraulic lifters noise?
I have no probs with noise but it gives constant feeling that something is about to go real bad.
And I read your reply in some other thread to use an engine flusher (STP?) with old engine oil before oil change.
On pakwheels i read a lot and many people said best oil for cultus 3 cyl(hydraulic lifters) is 10w40, while many others say 5w30 etc.
Which one is the final answer? As I don't have the owner's manual.

The correct remedy would be to first check if the lifters are holding up pressure, mechanics know how to check.

The problem starts when they dont keep the lifters in order during repair and even start disassembling them and mix their parts up. At this time the lifters are guaranteed to be scrap metal. There is a reason lifters are prohibited to be disassembled. If disassembly is required, its done one at a time.

Went to a few different mechs just to be sure. Everyone said the different thing:
One said engine is weak therefore even new lifters wouldn't make any difference.
Other one said it is fine every 3cyl cultus makes same noise (a bit more or less)
Third one said engine change hoga aur koi hal nahi​
And final one said rather complicated thing. He mentioned that once engine overheated (which it did once due to radiator fan relay burnt and gasket damaged), the fuming engine caused the aluminum parts to become soft and take new shapes.
As far as I know, aluminum doesn't become weak until 600⁰C?
All I know is that everyone is just BS'ing.
Now considering going to irshad @jameel autos. Have seen many reps and vouches for him.

Stop visiting idiots please. Noisy hydraulic lifters are tested with a wooden stick/handle.

If they cannot so this or dont know how to, they probably are bicycle mechanics.

Went to irshad and he found oil leakage in my car as well He said let's change the engine seals first, then radiator top cover.hydraulic lifters are making noise but they are working fine. He said it's better if you change them. Change them the last thing. Lastly, he advised to use 10w30 oil
So now I'm gonna save up and get all these things done from him. Is he really trusted for this kind of work? Looked average to me (or maybe I'm judging too much).

What's a radiator top cover? Change the entire radiator. Get a brand new one.

Top plastic part of radiator. He said it was the reason for water reduction and should change this only.
Currently don't have the budget for new radiator so when i save up I'll change it.

So I got radiator top cover changed, oil leakage fixed, many things done from Irshad bhai at jameel autos including new japanese FCC clutch and pressure plates since they were extremely burned and started fuming due to clutch bearing breaking and rubbing against the clutches and stuff.
Changed engine oil to 10w30 havoline formula.
Everything is good now except for hydraulic lifter noise. The noise is extremely increased now and sounds like something is about to break. I have seen other cultuses with much tappet noise. But mine is just too high now. I'll try to attach a video. If not, I'll upload to gdrive and post a link.
Irshad bhai said before to let it go on like this and change the lifters as you build the budget for it. But now i Feel like this is a problem now and a little bit prolonged usage will surely cause something.
