also check the exhaust manifold, and ask the mechanic to remove the additional metal pieces between the individual exhaust pipes, bu doing this u are making preventive measure to safe guard the new gasket to be installed, this job can be done very easily at this stage without spending any additional costs.

OK will take care of it. But mechanics usually exaggerate.

Does cultus engine made of Silver?
One of my mechanic says that it is difficult to face the engine block bcz it's silver made. Better to buy new engine.
He says head gasket change charges 2000/- except parts and if need facing then the charge would be 5000/-

Engine of Cultus is made up of Aluminum.
Head can be faced easily by the lathe worker if it's still in spec's and haven't cracked or something like that.
Changing the Engine would also require changing the Engine number on registration book.
Get hold of some good mechanic get the Engine opened and inspect if it can be faced/repaired.

Engine change advice means your mechanic doesnt want to work hard but still want hamdsome labour in the form of engine swap work..

My liana's block was faced too. Its a non iron block too..since your car is opened for the first time i assume the internals will be all ok...BUT there could be a possibility of cracked/rusted/f'ed head and in this case only head will be changed not the engine block...

Its a carby cultus. The finding of a good head will be a pain believe me...cultus is NOT an international car therefore its parts in used market are rare and very tough to find a good one...i think it will be around 20k

Find K_seal... It will solve ur gasket issues and u don't need to get ur engine opened. It is a sealant and is poured into radiator. I have watched it's videos on you tube and is a very good and permanent solution. Try finding it in karachi. Don't go for opening engine it may further detiorate ur problem. Because every mechanic can't put the head back quite the way the manufacturer does. Let me know once u find it

There are two different gasket brands which one is good? CT OR GUIDE. I bought guide but mechanic says CT is good. Also grey silicone tube is also required. Please tell me if it's necessary **

Silicone is must and acts as an adhesive between gasket and surfaces of block and head.

I used Guide gasket. Anyone will work if its of required thickness.

So whats the situation right now? Is your engine open?

No brother not yet opened. My mechanic went to attend some shaadis now back. So will do now.
I bought Grey silicone by Bossil.
My mechanic says CT gasket is good or KP. I have already bought Guide gasket both thick and thin.
Labor cost 2000/- for gasket and if facing required then additional 3000/-.

Dear Brothers
Alhamdolillah finally Head work is done.
1. New gasket 2mm thick by CT company (mechanic refused to use Guide)
2. Head faced and now both parts cylinder head and engine block look shiny and clean Alhamdolillah.
3. Radiator serviced.
4. All belts are changed except timing belt as the one I bought was 98R however the existing one was 97R.
5. New engine oil Caltex Havoline 4L.
6. Poured 2 bottles Nasa coolant.
7. New Distributor packing.
8. New distributor ring (japanese)
9. New radiator cap (Futaba Japan)
10. New Tappet packing/seal (taiwan)
11. New oil filter (leppon)
12. Bossil grey silicone seal tube.

no water pump was required.

After all this work done, I did a test drive and all looks OK alhamdolillah but the temperature needle is stands little below from middle point when engine start. I asked the mechanic and he said it's OK. Don't to worry but I am still not satisfied. Can you please suggest and remedy of this issue.

He also said two things to be done immediately.

1. Carburetor butterfly is damaged. So need to change or repair immediately.
2. There is a play in fan motor. Also he said to buy a new motor a bigger one (kabli) like Cultus EFI which will keep the engine cool.

Can anybody please advise me if these things need to be done and after doing this, temperature needle comes down?

Also what would be the cost of these two things??

Congrats on your work.. You seem to have learnt alot of engine works after discussions here

Needle below middle is normal...it means you do not have thermostat valve and your fan is direct - arguably this setup is fine for hot karachi and almost all cars run with this setup.
