AoA,
As the title suggests this thread is about building a cruiser bike. I love to explore my country and I have visited many beautiful places of Pakistan on my car. After purchasing Ravi Piaggio I thought I should give it a try as well. I loved riding as much as driving. Both have its own charm. You get more in touch and close to the nature while you ride. That?s all about me and some brief history now let?s move towards the motive behind the project.
The Motive,
After enjoying a couple of tours on my Ravi Piaggio, I loved it ride but as its city commuter some points were missing. So the thought came out to own a cruiser bike that can have following aspects.
- The power: it should be able to cruise on a reasonable speed on a straight road. It could cruise at 100 km/h easily and could maintain the speed easily without any need of extra pushing. Because when you push it you can?t enjoy the cruising. Should have at least OHC engine with minimum vibration. It could drive for hours without getting heated.
- The comfort: It should be comfortable so you don?t feel a fatigue during long tour.
- The maintenance: The most important point. If something break down in middle of nowhere. You can find its parts easily and could be repairable in minimum time.
One thing was certain that not a single motorbike in Pakistan got all of these facilities in one package. So the solution was to build one by myself.
Outlook wise my inspiration is Honda Shadowline. Simple and elegant.

I know its hard to achieve but target should be high;)
I don?t want to re-build an old engine because that could not be as reliable as a new engine could be. Branded engine like Honda / Yahama are so much expensive and its hard to source them due to hefty duty. So the alternate was a good and economical Chinese engine. Yes after using Piaggio for more than an year i am certain that Chinese engines could be reliable as well. Some of you already know that we have our own stock. This thread has it all.

So i thought why i shouldn't try one for myself.
The Motor,
I selected a fresh Lifan 250cc water cooled engine Some of the key points are
1. Lifan is a renowned name in engines.
2. It?s an OHC engine that produces 20HP. Very less vibration
3. It got has brutal torque of 19N.m @ 5500r/min.
4. Japanese carb.
5. Its gear ratio was excellent for cruising. Even in city commuting. You don?t need to shift gear so rapidly like other bikes.
6. Very good for long routes because it could maintain its temperature by itself.
7. This engine is being used in Lifan dual sports bike that are being exported to US and Europe and are known for their affordability and durability.
8. Luckily the same engine structure is used in local rikshaw in 150/200 cc category so we can find its parts anywhere in Pakistan easily.
but it doesn?t mean at all that it?s a rikshaw engine.
The next thing was finding a good frame.
The Frame,
I was interested in finding a used Chinese chopper frame because
1. They are strong enough to hold big engines.
2. Alloy wheels to support tubeless tyres.
3. Front disk break for good breaking power.
4. Long wheelbase for more stability at high speed.
5. Comfortable riding posture and seat.
6. I could go for a dual sport aswell but I like cruiser more than a dual sport
Cruising at speed of 120+ while you are just 2 feet above the ground is an awesome experience ;
7. and most of all the following picture.... hehe

For the frame, I searched a lot on PW, olx and open market. People were demanding ridiculously high prices for their more than 10 old abused bikes. My first aim was to find a clean rust free frame. So i can start from the scratch and could build it as my requirement. I didn't care about the engine or about the body parts because I planned to re done complete bike. After searching a lot I found a frame in bilal ganj.
Here you go.

It was rust free, with proper documents, having complete wiring attached, but tank has dents and side covers, front shock, Rear wheel and rear shocks were missing. But when you were getting it in an awesome price you don't lose the deal
. We struggled more and arrange some missing parts. Paid the price asked the kabarriya to take his engine out we don't need it
. Loaded the stuff in a pickup and dropped at our mechanic place. Oh did I say mechanic, yes so one free piece of advice you should must have a 2 important artifact before starting a project like this
1. a trustful mechanic who is ready to put his effort with heart and soul in the project.
2. a generous and sincere friend like @vickytulla who can guide you whenever needed.
otherwise your project could be doomed. Luckily I am blessed by both. So i took a dare to start something like this.
Also need your prayers, support and guidance.
So the engine is fired up and tested (video will be uploaded soon), the frame is purchased and the project is started? Here we goooo....
