How is the perfo,ance of the engine you are going to use ? The shaft driven engine means it do have a lot of torque but is it capable of maintaining 12okmph cruising speed with all the weight and stuff

on the way back from tour visited Uzairs Project.... he seems to be totally commited to complete it ASAP .. even on Sunday he is engaging ...

Bro, I placed a 200cc 17hp 15Nm engine in my heavily loaded RP, and now it beats the hell out of CGs and GS150s ... Seals a top speed of 132KMH... so Just imagine what a 250cc would do ? all I know that a guy placed the very same engine in a GS150 and he seals a top speed of 146KMH

I remember our friends @12gauge qouting "the juice is worth the squeeze" I would like to ask @mqsdrana @angel82 what did they saw last day on tour

also @dr.omair who has an amazing gs150 who happily reaches 120kmh with a smile and offcourse with absolutely no sound... we dragged with each other on almost whole tour... tu doctor Sb phir kya khayal hai did the squeeze worth it ? lol

offcourse @rocketscience was with us to on his huge and se*y GS500 and no bike was even matchable he he h eh eh

@vickytulla bhai jee u r rite cruisers do have KHALAARA but at least the "weight to power" or "power to weight" whatever is called, ratio should be justified. don't u think its weight is too much as compared to the tiny 200 or 250 engine???(look at the title pic, its ratio is perfectly balanced

Intruder say bara tu lag rha hai but in real its only long not tall at all almost near to ground and light weight as it was orignally made for 125class engines... not even 150cc engines... ... but yes this is some thing unknown to both of Us lets see if @angle82 has any thing calculated already or is he going by instincts ..

An awsome trip i must say and it was a warm up trip for something BIG so did @vickytulla 's bike performed? Yessss it not only performed but in my opinion, outperformed. Awesome result by engine swapping. This is how RP engine should have perform. As i said to vicky ke agar RP is power ke sath launch hoti tu ab tak Ravi walon ko Billionair bana chuki hoti due to its sale :). Whenever u Rev it, It never hesistate to push itself for more and more. GS500 is the only bike that could catch him during the ride otherwise it was uncatchable. IMO this is the first mod for RP rather than changing its handle bar spending a lot of on alloys that most peopel do and that kills the performance.

These khalara you were talking about is the real beauty of a cruiser IF done properly. The pic i shared was from an abused cruiser that has 150 CC under powered engine. Even yeh sara khalara bhi itna weight add nai kerta. not more than 10KG. Itna farak tu tank full kara lain tu parr jata hai. 250cc isn't a samll engine if you compare it to Pakitani market and roads. I set my target to 120 KM / Hr according to Pakistani roads because yahan itna maintain bhi ho jaye without killing yourself tu its enough.

About the Engine performance. I am qouting some comments from the guys who really tested the engine and bike in Taiwan and Thailand.

"The 5-speed gear box has a perfect gear ratio, and with its high torque it's a pleasure to ride. We compared the 5-speed Lifan gearbox with the 6-speed Kawasaki KLX250 and we found that it is not necessary to change gear that much in traffic. This is of course because the Lifan 250cc has more torque then the Kawasaki.
P.S. I do not work for Lifan, it's only that I see a lot of all new motorcycles that enter the country."

I said before "The engine is restricted to pass the emission tests, but the LF250GY-7 being a carburettor motorcycle this restrictions are easily disabled."

Another comment.

"If we compare the Kawasaki KLX250/D-tracker 250 to the Lifan in standard form:
Lifan LF250GY-7
Brute Horsepower 19.70
Torque 19 N.m

Kawasaki KLX/D-Tracker 250
Brute Horsepower 22
Torque 15.2 N.m

We can remove the restriction by simple using a screwdriver without adding any cost. The horsepower then jumps to nearly 32 hp. Because the Lifan is a carburettor motorcycle we can even exchange the needles or replace the carburettor completely. Do less restricted exhaust pipes..etc.. all very easy and all within a not to high budget."

I am not saying that these are better than Kawasaki but wa ted to share that it has some plus points

May be i am lucky enough that my carborator is not restricted and its giving 32bhp just saying

Only CC doesn't matter, Torque and gear ratio does matter. This is the difference between that i ride RP after driving car for many years. In car you dont have to switch gears again and again but in bike you have to switch gear every 10-20 km and thats not fun. But by having this gear ratio and producing its max power at only 5500 RPM will be something different to ride. Reality check will be done when the cruiser would be on road but these figures are enough to make me optimistic. that maintaning 120 km isn't a big deal for this engine.

I think it would be an under estimation if you expect it top end at only 120kmh. if I can hit 125km with smile and top out at 132kmh with only 17bhp and huge weight ... then I think you are too far ahead from me... but I agree the real reality Check would be after the bike will roll out.. just like we did the paiggio engine swap reality check and we went succesfull!!! ....

Weekend Update:

Front is completed as well. Now @vickytulla is inspecting if something missing. Need a bush in front wheel's excel otherwise its fine.

Now its time to bring the engine and measure how it will be fit with minimum alteration.

A Coke and an Engine this is what keep must of us going right guys??? . That's why we are called The Petrol Head

After inspecting the frame, reading the Engine manual and mounting diagram. A brilliant idea came up that engine will be mounted through the center excel. WoW awesome. It will have a number of benifits.

1. Will save extra work of making new engine mount at the back.
2. It will be super strong. As weight would be on center excel only and rest of the mount were only for support purpose.
3. Will make a lot of room of other fittings like radiator etc as most of the engine will go inside the body and will be as much back as possible.
4. One great benefit came in my mind but i won't disclose it before testing the ride so wait for that
