D.I.Y USB, AUX, Card Reader for Rs.260

Hello all,

This is my first DIY on PakWheels. Well I have a Alpine CD player with no USB and AUX port So I tried FM modulator but its sound was not good. Now here is the important two functions of FM Modulator:-

1. Sound generation
2. FM Transmitter.

Since FM modulator doesn't generate quality sound, so that's why its not good enough. I got an idea, that instead of using FM modulator's sound why shouldn't I use some other input. In market I have found some Chinese MP3 pre that supports USB, AUX, Card Reader etc... and its only sound MP3 pre without any modulator and its sound was pretty good. I had previously tested it with my computer woofers and result was amazing. So I try to make a little new modulator with better sound producing mechanism. And for that I used very common things easily found in home/market

For this I used simple plastic switch board case, black spray, a little piece of floor carpet.

Cost:-

1. MP3 Pre: Rs.250/-
2. Transistor to regulate 12 volt to 5 volts: Rs. 10/-
3. Plastic Board: Free as already available in home
4. Floor Carpet: Free as already available in home
5. FM Modulator: Free as already available in home
6. Black Spray: Free as already available in home

So it totally cost me: Rs. 260/- "only"

This is the Pre I have found in Market:

This is the very simple electric plastic board (used for fixing buttons, switches)

Spraying the board to black so that it should match with Pre color and look good in car.

Cut the paper size of MP3 pre and placing it on plastic board for cutting.

Since the plastic board have holes for switches and buttons so I need to cover it with something. So I used this piece of Floor Carpet and paste it

Side cutting for On/Off switch and wires out.

Total stuff used:

Taking a test drive :)

Made the appropriate connections:

Side On/Off Switch and wires out.

Pre fixed in plastic board and all connections made.

Ta Da... Its working... :)

does the pre have the folder change option? fol+/fol- ?

No brother, it doesn't have Folder options. But it won't be issue as I fixed this Pre with Wire holders and two nut bolts, so if I get some Pre with Folder option then it can be very easily swapped.

does the MP3 PRE you used, comes with the remote control or it can only be controlled manually

^^^ Yeah this PRE comes with remote and for voltage input it needs 5 volts. So you need to regulate the car's 12 volts to 5 volts in order to operate this Pre.

i have seen in pics that you used FM modulator auxiliary input jack as music source,does it works fine because i tried one of chinese FM modulator auxiliary input jack but its result was pathetic.
