How can a human error occur when the timing plate is opened and you verify it thrice being perpendicular to timing case. All three marks are aligned.
If timing was wrong how did the new mechanic adjusted the timing without opening the timing plate? Just opening up the rocker cover and adjusting the timing.
Was he a magician?
Like humans working at my workshop were all blind and even after opening the timing plate they were blind enough to see where the timing marks are and other human was a magician..
He advanced the timing probably, because compression was pretty low now it was about 80-100-120-80, so on all practical grounds like the doctor say the patient is dead and that patient wakes up by a electric shock can not rule out the diagnosis. Either you have to prove the analysis wrong or you have to accept the fact that it was a fluke and out of books. As I would never ever tell anyone to go out of the bounds. What if overadjusting the cam made some big damage and then again the poster would have said now pay me 250k since it was a start engine.
So always think before writing what logic is being put forward. Working on a vq35de or a 1uzfe in the same day and setting up its timing marks well and messing up on a engine that every mechanic feels easy to work on.
You can't judge the book by its cover. We are working on every new motor that is available nowadays so it's highly unlikely that they will miss upon such less complex engines. Even if it was a mistake the way it was dealt could have made the poster a little grateful that they're not like others, they're owning their mistake. This is not how you post reviews.
