D15b vtec vs F18b vtec

salam to all.......im new to pw......however i hve been reading pw forums since last two years........so new in the sense that i have joined it now.......coming to the topic i own a civic 95 and up with a plan to swap up a engine.yes i know everyone here is a fan of d15b,but why not go for f18b which is rated as 140 hp....10 hp more than d15b.......and jst 5k expensive than d15 plus with lsd..so honda gurus ap logon ke kia rai hae........is ke ilawa net per bhe is ka itna charcha nahe hai as compared to d15......so ap log kia kehtay han,thnx.........aur anay lil bro ko welcome karen(H)

may be because d15b is 1500cc while f18b is 1900 (iirc) Personally i dont think 10 more HP makes much of a difference considering an increase in 400cc

go for D15B as its more economical as well and more powerful ... as u already stated ur self that in general internet forums f18 is not that much popular so this shud answer ur question it self ..

bohat in depth baatein hoti hein friend .. 10hp ka to farq hai .. but cc ka bhi farq hai .. means weight ka bhi ... so jo 10hp aap zada gain kerney ka soch rahey ho .. woh heavy engine ki waja se power to weight ratio mein disolve ho jaey ga ... phir aapko F18 k alag mounts , suspension , axle etc etc etc sub change kerna parey ga ...

my personal suggestion is if u are planning for a Honda swap .. go for B16 single vtec

Depends upon ur requirements - Performance Vs Economy
F18b has more displacement so its far better for any sort of upgrades, but parts are NOT easily available (cant assure a hassle free swap)
D15 is the king of economy , easily available , parts available , easy swaps - serious upgrades will be required to get power out of it

P.S i'd reckon a d16z6 with LSD trany if ur interested in a D gang (that too wont be easy to find)

yup @badpigs d series engine wid lsd hard to find..as......and i thnk d15b wid lsd will b a superb choice....however such combination came in sme jdms..........nd @salmangheyas wat are da prices of b16a wid tranny

if not thinking abt B16B - Type R which is the rarest one ... and THE BEST !!

my friend recently completed a project with B16A4 in Anda charade ( n/a ) ... and believe me its hell fast !

@novice59, I'd recommend to stick with d15b, there are some reasons why everyone selects D..
f-series are not bolt on for EGs whereas d15b will be easy bolt on swap. F would require to change axles and mounts means more hassle and $
And f18b is not 140hp, it's 138hp. Putting both on quarter mile, d15b would still take lead.
Regarding b16a, if your ride is going to be daily driven then again it won't be a wise choice to have b-series considering fuel prices!

Ps: I'm telling you from user experience.

yup@v8 ur rite d15b with stage 1 mods will b a hell of machine...........and will give a tough time to b16a even.....cuz d15b with s20(short gear ratios) always keeps the engine in vtec rpms while shifting nd putting 130hp all the way from start to finish line.............where as in b16a one usually falls below vtec rpms while shifting up......so d15b with s20 giving constant power band...........hahahaa sorry for hurting b series enthusiasts:-#
