some like cvt, others dont... i imagine it would take the fun out of driving... no more shift shocks, lack of immediate rush on flooring the pedal and all that...

CVT and its variants are the way of the future i suppose... or at least the concept behind CVT is...

why dont you like it?

a PW member said CVT issues can arise from improper settings of the throttle... but then there are plenty of CVT cars out there, running just fine.

It's the driving pleasure that was lacking in a CVT Lancer I drove. But maybe that's just because I'm more of a manual tranny person, and CNG with CVT transmission is a killer combination, literally. The transmission will die very soon.

wont be adding CNG to my ride... but converting to a CVT may kill its resale (as most ppl want CNG)

it was evident but just asked, to where was the engine bought from ? i dont think there are any engines with CVT in shershah, and the reason for particularly this engine, when D16Y6 wasn't that bad ?

well, i am not sure myself. i asked on PW as to the transmission code for an AT for D15B Dual VTEC, and was told that there are MMTs available here. Will have to check, but since I dunno the code I cant simply rely on the dealer's word.

Basically i am looking to get the ECU and AT for D15B 3-Stage. Sceptical!

may be i sound dumb but i can't understand the situation, what i asked was k why in the first place u got the engine changed ? and that too to D15B, when D16Y6 wasn't that bad ? second, i was asking k which tranny is installed right now ? and if it is CVT, how did u get it, i dont think they have MMT or CVT gearboxes over here.

wese D15B 3 stage VTEC is one hell of a beast, and if u install a simple AT gearbox, and re-program the ECU, like the VTEC kick in, the shifting point, it would easily beat any manual D15B ...

got the engine changed cuz my brother messed up the original D16. It was amazing till my brother got a hold of it...

i have my original transmission installed... but no reprogramming... VTEC kicks in fine when it should... however my current issues are revolving around shift shocks and consumption. I really am not looking to race, therefore i dont want to beat a manual d15b. I just want my car to be at its optimal health.

this thread was started cuz i actually experienced (the first time ever) a gear shift from 3rd to 4th at over 8k RPM. Which i am told could be an error on the ecu/console's part.

who would you recommend for an ecu reprogram?

dont go for ecu reprogramming its just a waste of money as i did it twice wasted 6000 once and 2000 again as there arent much professional people for this ecept one or may be two and they charge a lot after the reprogramming i went for the ecu and i got it for 8000 and as far as auto gear is concerned i love auto as its ease to drive in heavy traffic and as far as accelerating is concerned go for d3 gear and u can handle the acceleration and pick through accelerator pedal most of pakwheelers know this.and there is much difference in pick in auto on cng but in efi cars above 1300cc on cng the pick is quite good.as far as resale is concerned u wont be selling it atleast 3 to 4 years what i think so.so u better keep the original auto and change it back when ur selling it but i dont think so the buyer will come to know u have a cvt gear.and changing of gear on 8k is harfull for ur engine as it gets too much pressure and load specially harmful on cng.as said by mechanics that u dont have to have late shifting on cng it will harm rings,camshaft as well as pistons.i also have the original auto tyranny and have ecu of dual vtec i dont feel any problem and the shifting of gear on proper rpm can be done by having the d15b ecu and specially the accurate working throttle body and iacv valve and tp sensor.i changed my tp sensor and now mashallah iam getting proper shifting of gear and 125 kms on cng

dont plan on putting in cng... and i'm not going for cvt anymore will stick with this transmission till it lasts then will see.

i went to tariq yesterday. he's asking me to change ecu, distributor, wiring, and vtec solenoids. roughly a 20-22k ka kharcha.
