D15B3 Redlining at 8k

I thought u had CVT 'installed'. Kher, for shift shocks, get your transmission oil and filter changed from Honda Pit Stop. If u dont know one, tell me which area you live in and i'll guide you with the nearest one. Shifting on 8000 rpm is for sure a concern. If you cannot find a reliable ECU programmer, i know one, his name is awaad, actually my friend is friends with him, the guy is really a gifted fellow. He has swapped a D15B in my friend's civic and damn the car is nice.

I owned a 6th gen till august '11 for the last 6-7 years. VTi, Automatic transmission, with CNG ! 125k kilometers ... with no problems whatsoever, awesome car.

@Fuzon: yes it is believed that on CNG, higher revs may lead the VTEC to die ! You have a very pretty average on CNG, kindly share more, what was the average before you did all this ? 80km ?

tariq is in gulshan... and no i dont have CVT yet... i was merely thinking of installing it. you're right, i dont know where the nearest pit stop is... i m on shahrah-e-faisal (behind embassy inn).

i will definitely look you up when i need ecu reprogramming... right now i have to get some other stuff done on my car so i can get the fuel consumption right.

thanks! i'll prolly go to DEINFA... its the closest to my place... dunno most of the other areas. Currently getting 7km per liter... but im changing my ecu, distributor etc to match my D15B 3-Stage... will hopefully then have 11km per liter.

@ raging_ravern. yes before it was giving 80 kms before i changed the tp sensor and did the adjustment to 0.6 now its giving me 125 kms mashallah

u installed D16Y6's ECU into the D15B ? i dont think that is possible, also, before changing the distributor and stuff, try the initial procedures first. Like getting the current distributor in order (retire/advance setting), then check the spark plug and wires, get the TP sensor checked as told by fuzon, then go for any major money spending. btw, did u get the compression of the engine checked ?

its possible since both engines are OBD2b.

fuzon got it done from Tariq in Gulshan... the same guy i went to... he's the one who said i should change the ecu and distro and of course he will check the rest... no... i didnt know anything about engines when i bought the engine... will look for a place to get the compression tested.

i dont think D16Y6 is OBD2a, also the ECU codes are different ... so im amazed, u should get D15B stock ECU for sure ! and yes usually the distributor is to be changed with the ECU. good luck bro ! keep updating us !

i m not sure what ecu the pk6 is running, nor about the version... but i didnt need to change any wiring/grips at all when i installed the new engine... everything fit where it should... except that i couldnt use dual vtec and o2 sensor.

may be i sound dumb but i can't understand the situation, what i asked was k why in the first place u got the engine changed ? and that too to D15B, when D16Y6 wasn't that bad ? second, i was asking k which tranny is installed right now ? and if it is CVT, how did u get it, i dont think they have MMT or CVT gearboxes over here.

the MMT gearboxes were available in the Karachi junkyard, some dealers also imported some used civics a while back which had this stupid #^&%$ B#($*D MMT. Its a royal PITA to work on, and the drive effect is you expereince something Honda built into it as "clutch slip" because their pathetic engine is torqueless anyway it needed to rev to VTEC roar to make power and then the transmission started to deliver power. This act made owners think that the transmission is dead and headed for "ustaad bawle khan" workshops

anyway back to the thread.

Adjust the pressure cable to the gearbox correctly, loosen it up a little about 1 turn would be enough and then check, Im wrting because Im believing you are using the standard 4 spd fully hydraulic transmission in your car.

heh... i see a lot of ppl heading to garages for no reason... will definitely check the cable and post results.

just to be certain, i m to adjust the end that connects to the throttle cable right? (what the guys here call the 'kickdown cable')

Or should i adjust the transmission end of the cable?

just checked the pressure cable... the throttle end cannot be loosened any further (the far-end nut is wound out till the end) ... and the transmission end was wound too tight. did not budge more than 0.2 cm . So i sprayed some WD40 and will give it another go in a bit.

as much as i have tried... i am not getting the 8K redline anymore... redlines at 7200... as for adjusting the pressure cable... it could only be tightened... which i did... roughly one turn of the nut... and now the car's gotten a little stiff... gear shift shocks have toned down about 1% (except when shifting to 2nd gear)... not too sure i want the car this stiff... will try further adjustments.

Honda Fit comes with an MMT with a torque convertor... supposed to generate a lot more torque earlier in acceleration. what's your take on that?

if only i knew then whatever i know now...

dual vtec and O2 wont work without an ECU that can make use of it.
