What are the recomendations.
The filler Cap says replace only with DOT 3 fluid.

You use brake fluid - the trick to an easy clutch bleed is to use a pipe and container on the slave cylinder and make sure the liquid always goes upwards from the nipple, You will see new fluid after about 200 ml of flushing.

Go for original toyota break fluid but get that drained from break caliper pipe properly, and for clutch cylinder oil replacement you can use toyota original Dot 3 fluid, though seiken is also worthy of use. Liqimoly diesel purge that is good for nozzles if you use it properly

Would you please elaborate "properly" for diesel purge. I am gonna buy it tomorrow and want to know the proper procedure.

I am in trouble.

I have a 1990 toyota 2.0D, with 2C engine. Engine has clocked 160k miles.

Last night while driving engine generated a strange noise, more like when u trigger self motor on a running engine. I checked oil and it was on Low line.

I checked again, engine was behaving erratically, with some time loud and sometimes mild knocking sound (karka).

Today i took it to mechanic, engine generates self motor sound if i drive it above 1500 rpm.

Mechanic said either there is some issue in cranshaft area, or head.
He thinks there is some "tikki" under the Glow Plug that falls in the cylinder.

We also removed all glow plugs, mechanic restricted glow plug hole with fingers one by one while running the motor on self.

3 cylinders were behaving alright, displacing his finger with a pop. BUt cylinder 1 had very less suction and was not displacing the finger.

I also checked, most of the time cylinder did not displaced my finger with pressure, but after a few turns it did displaced my finger.

What is you assessment??
Is this a valve job?

If i remove my head, what course of action/tasks you recommend to do in a go.

I would be grateful for ur guidance.

This finger test was not for compression check. Mechanic apprehension was there is some damage either on top side or in crankshaft chamber. I asked to removed plugs hoping to find something and we found a not so normal behavior in one cylinder.

He was talking of some "tikki" under the glow plugs that fells down in diesel engines and that it can damage pistons/valves etc.
Before this test he also rotated crankshaft and says that it stucks at points.

I was hoping some timing related issue, but now i think there is indeed some issue in cylinder 1.

Best way to know is to open up the cylinder head.

There is one other possibility, your filter element might have deteriorated and got sucked in by the engine and got stuck in cylinder #1 and or between the valve seat.

Strangely getting stuck at one point during the crankshaft rotation means there is something in between the piston and the cylinder head. Might as well open it up :. for your peace of mind.

Another possibility is that a valve guide might have seized and a valve gets stuck open and the piston hits the valve and closes it, hence the mechanic's analysis of less suction in one cylinder may mean one of the valves may be stuck open.

Sorry i didn't updated here. One of the valve was broken.

Head job is complete but unfortunately he grinded valve stems to adjust tappets.

Others says engine noise had reduced, though i feel more "karka" sound. Either its advanced or its noise of tappet.

But power had reduced, engine even stalls at low rpm/high gear, something that never happened before. Probably power issue will be resolved after pump timing.

I have issue with diesel 2C. Yet to get Compression tested though it was all fine 20 months ago.

1) Mechanic showed me piston moves inside its bore, like a play motion. This we checked when the head was open. Does this test means anything?

2) fuel efficiency is low, blow by gases there. Power is also low. Power improved bit when i timed pump with gauge. If i service the pump from typical diesel labs, is there a MOST Common Issues that i should check for?? Issues that may resolve 80% problem with 20% work or something like that. You know i cant expect perfection from these labs.

3) I feel my Pump timing point is too near the engine, it was RETARDED and had to be advanced. Is it possible to adjust PUMPS timing gear instead??? I want pump to be timed in the middle of its TO & Fro motion, that will probably put less stress on pump and timing will not get disturbed easily. What do u say??

your mechanic basically reduced the fuel load. It will be incredibly weak. - That screw is not tampered with unless the pump is on a test rig. Your smoke most probably must have been from other issues like valve clearances or oil consumption.

If the compression tested OK - then dont worry too much about the piston side play - it will be taken up when the engine warms up.

To correctly set the diesel pump you need a properly trained person testing it on a properly calibrated bench.

I couldnt understand your 3rd point.
