If the compression tested OK - then dont worry too much about the piston side play - it will be taken up when the engine warms up.

To correctly set the diesel pump you need a properly trained person testing it on a properly calibrated bench.

I couldnt understand your 3rd point.

1) ok, will get compression tested again

2) actually proper person is too expensive, so lets say may be uncalibrated equipment also improve from current situation. I cant be sure here. I am thinking in lines of a) checking internal fuel pressure that is adjusted by tapping a screw [undoable], b) fuel injection rate

3) Pump was retarded. I needed it at .83 and it was .7. I noticed pump is already too much on advanced side of its phyiscal motion. It was much difficult to advance pump at that point. I don't know what is the limit of moving pump on either side, may be injection pipes are causing stress on the pump. If it is this difficult to move Pump from 0.7 to 0.83, then obviously it is more prone to get back to 0.7 during running.

Now say if i am able to some how move Timing gear of the pump, and mak 0.7 to 0.9 without actually moving the pump, then i have to Retard the pump from its current position instead of advaning it. WHich is much more easier. And probably it will ensure that pump stays in its position for longer time without being disturbed.

Is there any nozel cleaning issue cause this? As the recent holder of pajero was aaying that he got checked frm mechanic.he said nozels need to get clean. Which kinda nozels?

did this mechanic deduce this just by looking at the engine?

Yes i have not been loosening the injection lines. I will not say Pump is at extreme limit, but pump was moving more freely on retard side when mechanic retarded it too much by mistake.

Last thing, my CSD is not having any effect. My Timing shows no difference whether i do it with CSD engaged or disengaged. I have tried moving CSD liver left and right, but i have never noticed it causing any effect on the timing gauge.

I have conclude that CSD is not advancing/retarding pump as it should.

What should i do??

there is somethign wrong inside the pump, when you rotate the lever the injection timing changes in the pump.

What kind of repair am i looking at? What should i tell diesel lab guy if its not too complicated for him?

My pump was opened only once to change seals, as diesel was leaking.

ask him to check the advance assembly on the pump - its bolted at right angle on the outside of the pump near the bottom of the casing.

U mean the thing on which CSD is connected right?

Manual neither indicate Advance Assembly nor have they mentioned any steps to check it.

Though a breakapart picture indicates Timer Cover, timer adjusting shims, Timer piston & timer subpiston, all seems to be connected to CSD lever.

Another thing is, in manual there is a table for Injection Volume measurement, and it has different values for so many different variants. I fail to figure out which one is mine.

My car is 1990 corolla, CE95, 4WD (probably FR vehicle category), it has a plastic tappet cover with nothing on top, Break boost is pressured by a pump assembled over alternator.

the pages you are showing do not have your model in it, its all corolla, camry, corona etc. The area where it says to apply pressure is a turbo diesel engine, the pressure is applied in the aneroid device. The closest you have would be the corolla.

In toyota literature the pump advance function is called the timer device. The timer device rotates the camplate in the pump advancing it, when the engine runs - the system advances under hydraulic pressure - thats why its important to have the pump internal operating pressure correct - because if the pump pressure is low, it cannot build enough pressure to advance the camplate at 2000 rpm.

INternal pressure is the thing that is adjusted by UNDOabl small taps on a screw on one of the corner right??

Manual aslo indicated timer measurement device, looks like that glass thing u have explained before in this thread. Is timer measurement device available in pakistan??

Intake will be cleaner than before

I attached oil catch can back in April then emptied it in july. 1300km. I think it was around 300mL oil that I removed.

Now it's just 400km, I have not emptied it but catch can is leaking and I expect some oil collected inside. Can confirm after emptying it only.

What does high oil in pcv indicates about the engine?
