I have recently rebuild a TD27 NA engine of a nissan D22. All is well except an annoying tick tick noise from top of tappet cover at idle and slight off idle positions. During driving its okay.
What we have checked so far:
- Valve train.. from cam, lifters, rods, tappets, all checked.. all good.
- Oil supply is good on tappets.
- Head & internals rechecked
Now im going to focus on fuel system. A few things apparently wrong
- One of the injector pipe seems different.. a bit thicker in size.. and the pulse in that injector is also feeble. Can this cause a major noise issue?
- During the 1st ride.. I did notice a nozzle getting stuck.. a few revs and it cleared.. Possible incorrectly calibrated nozzles or delivery valves?
New nozzles were installed and pump was redone because it had leaky delivery valves. Starts up fine.. no smoke.. drives well.
On first start there is no tick tick.. rev it to at least 1000rpm and back to idle.. tick tick begins.. keep it idling upto 5 mins.. tick tick fades a bit but its still there.. I am planning to take it to another Pump wala as i have doubts on the earlier work done.
What can cause the tick tick at idle? Need your thoughts on this issue
