1HD is very expensive to rebuild properly - and requires a very strict control of the rebuild process. - Meaning you need someone like osama because he has made a system where he actually dictates the clearances he wants from the machinist. What kind of cross hatch etc. etc. - Then assembling it is a task and a half itself.

I believe he also has someone who can balance the dual stage 1HD injectors too. (which is very critical)

btw - I doubt there is any place in Pakistan that can rebuild turbos for passenger cars, I do know that CAT and Cummins rebuild their turbochargers there when their equipment is installed in a marine or industrial setting.

when cleaning a diesel engine insides, you never use petrol or a flash off cleaner like carb cleaner.

Imagine that even a whiff of petrol can start a diesel without glow assistance - and you just doused your valve cover internals with it. The actual part where the oil is separated is the baffles - you dont have to drill the rivets, you use boiling hot water and industrial soap to clean it off - you will see a lot of junk flushing from it.

@tintin1 sir kindly visit badami bagh area in Lahore.give it a try.
You will find a senior guy,who have worked all there life on Diesel engines.there are number of senior bazurg gulf returned .have technical knowledge of working on various Diesel engines . They will find a solution inshallah.
Or LODHI autos in Islamabad (a genius ) man.

There are no rules or quality control/concern in any GCC country - no matter its construction, mechanical, electric etc. etc. I have seen such lunacy in GCC countries that if made into a movie, it will be a great comedy hit.

@Xulfiqar Bhai with due respect.some one has to do the work !
Bund road Lahore is famous for heavy commercial vehicles work.
They import scrap dumper ,buses and turn around them.
So they might have , what it takes to, run 12000cc engines.(some how there concepts are clear,that they are able to work on volvo, Scania, MAN, Mercedes, Cummins, Perkins, etc).
And too with out dated tools and resources.

@Xulfiqar and as you always say, this country thrives on bilal gunj, shershah.
So no one uses his brain or does not have any problem solving ability.
But there are people whose concepts are clear.
Who work on each and every part of car be it suspension,gear,engine,cng,diesel.
Not like in big cities ,where people only mint money, Bhai ye shah jee saddar waalay Karain gay etc etc

1HD is not regarded as heavy duty diesel, its still a passenger car engine. HD diesels are a different category, e.g. repairing a twin countershaft manual gearbox from a HD truck is easier than repairing a synchro gearbox or automatic transmission. - Size isnt the matter here.

btw - I have seen the quality of work HD mechanics do in Pakistan, that is why all of the trucks and buses I have seen have severe cavitation damage at the block and head deck. Along with cracked coolant manifolds too - clogged EGR coolers, dead turbocharger wastegates etc.

When spending money on a repair, its best to study around and see the performance of work being done. For me all performance goes to zero as soon as I hear the words GCC return.

Sir I personally think 1HZ to be more reliable than HD series

The 1HD acts like a mini cummins 6BT, it provides good torque when asked. (albeit with higher revs)

the 1HZ torques up at 2000 rpm.

for me Land cruisers should be petrol fired - 1FZ-FE or put a chevy LS in it.

As an advice, try to get almost all parts "new" (new = toyota genuine or thailand make zero meter parts) from montgomery road. Whatever is not available in "new" form, only that should be sourced from badami bagh. I had a bad experience with badami bagh parts for 1kz re-build. Even small things such as gaskets of power pump from badami bagh started leaking after 2 days. Then I went for many new ones from montgomery road and everything is fine till date (approx. 10 months now).

LS swapping is very good option but no spare part support in Lahore at least......one has to visit weird places in scrap market to find even a simple water pump.....,....,sir fz-fe + own oil well+ oil refinery+gas station makes a good combo

If yo have capacity,than rebuild from him.
May be only oil and compression rings needs to be changed.
And nothing else!

This babajee is a moron if he drilled a hole in the fuel cap

The actual remedy is to repair the purge valve. Its common knowledge (almost as common as 2+2=4) - What he did is done as a "dirty test" only and that too by just removing the cap, not drilling it.

Its people like these "GCC/KSA return" people who I have no respect for and do not allow any of such people to work on any equipment/vehicle under my ownership.

100K for parts is a very unrealistic approach to repair a 1HD in Pakistan. Or he is going to use pattern/copy parts.
