I dont complain on them being tukka mechanics in the early beginnings, but I absolutely hate "complacency"

176 cst KV at 40C?

are you perhaps running an old british railway car truck - which had babbit bearings with wicked oilers - 176cst at startup in a 1HD is a complete wax stamped sealed guarantee to kill the engine. I start to get seriously worried above 130 cst on startup on any modern passenger diesel.

what is the viscosity index of this oil?

btw - caltex delo is one of the best fleet oils sold globally, and works supremely well in a 1HD. - its 40C KV is 130, with a VI of 125 and TBN of 9 (stiff dosage)

the other similar shell product of rotella is great too.

Both above flavours come in full synthetic too, which have even lower starting viscosities for better protection in cold start.

very informative post indeed and i truly agree most of the mechanics here are Jugar Specialist , rare to find some good ones .

i did the paper test just to check , With the oil filter cap removed when u rev the engine it trys to suck in the paper , nearly got it stuck in the cap while doing it .

i wanted to know some one mentioned RETARDING TIMING , are we talking about the Retarded timing of the diesal pump , if so how to fix that .

i am using Liqui Moly oil in my 1hz engine ,Wanted to know when its time to change which LIQUI MOLY oil should i put it , i was told it can run for 6000 to 10,000 km , is that true .

This is nothing for a diesel...... go and sometime check for mileage of Daewoo buses.....they are max 3 yr old and have 8lac km of mileage on them

I sometimes get called for electric diagnostic crap on heavy trucks here - 800,000 kms is nothing - its about half million miles - which is a joke - and only 10 oil changes and one coolant change.

The craziest I saw was an old flat nose pete, 5 million miles with one in frame bearing replacement job done at 2 million. It was oldschool and had a brownie box behind the transmission.

Hahahaha I am always wondered how to shift those 13 18 speed transmissions in the city traffic...... moreover American truck 2 stroke diesel have very distinct sound.....sir I can't understand why 2 stroke diesel are still used in them..... aren't they inefficient than 4 stroke ones
