n i have put the CSD in vinegar now, tell me procedure how to clean the rust or just keep it like this ?

This is the picture you want

the spring holds against the plunger. You can see that its ear is showing in the picture, also make sure the cam plate advance lever is connected correctly - it will be having some serrations on it.

before installing everything back make sure the advance element can actually move when hot water is poured in the ports.

exactly sir the cam plate advance lever is rotating little bit and the springs and other parts are to set on it, now how to make sure that it is connected correctly ? i have printed this pic, will show it to mechanic tomorrow and ask him to fix it this way.

sir m leaving vinegar poured in the ports for night, i hope it clears the rust and brings CSD in working state, will pour hot water in the morning. lets see.

see the plunger coming out in the following pics, in the ending pics u can see the max plunger was out at boiling point, it is enough and working correctly or i need to keep it more in the vinegar and then test it again ?

thats great - the system is working, you need to assemble the whole thing so that it is in rest, when the engine coolant gets hot the plunger pushes out retarding the timing and releasing the idle speed to down position.

Once it works you will immediately understand how everything works. When you took out the unit it must have snapped in place. If you rotate the most downward part that has star type serrations where one plate connects you will be able to see the cam plate in the pump rotate, if it moves anticlockwise its advancing and clockwise its retarding timing, in cold state the timing should be advanced and when the plunger pushes the lever out the timing should come back to normal.

assemble the top part in a way that the fast idle screw is pushing the accelerator lever slightly when cold, its supposed to release when the plunger pushes the levers.

Assemble with some grease on the parts that rotate on bushings.

ok so please update us because I am facing an same issue with one of my TD42 engine's dont had much time to go and start that engine and check it...

sure.. have u check valve train... from cam, lifter bucket, guide rods, face of tota, valve stem carter and then clearance

a bent rod cause valve tick.. check by rolling the rods on a flat glass surface

yup checked all of the above thing's btw I rebuilt the whole engine myself done it a lot of time's but in the case of nissan I cant spare as much time I needed to briefly analyze it...... still missing those days when I was free and able to tackle these little but major issue's...

sir today i got the pump installed with new timing belt, checked valve clearances it was 0.28mm-0.30mm

one of the shim had no gap so the mechanic ustaad sent it to lathe wala for cuts in my absence as i went to buy the timing belt, rest of the shims were all in original shape, i mean no cuts (as told by mechanic).

pick has some what increased, blow is same.

now the problems,

• from where to get pump timed with dial gauge in karachi ? any pakwheeler can help ?

• the CSD which i cleaned and tested did not work actually in the pump, drove the car 13-15kms with hard foot and ac so engine was hot enough, i opened the bonnet and checked, there was no change in CSD, plunger did not move at all also verified by noticing cam plate advance shaft, it was also in the same position when engine was dead cold.

springs were fixed back properly and cam plate advance shaft was also in correct position - it could be moved anticlockwise when pushed hardly with screw driver.

sir fast idle screw is pushing the accelerator lever very slightly, like only 950-1000rpms approx. how much should it be ?

grease not used by mechanic and m reading your comment now, will try oiling/greasing it tomorrow from outside.

that is correct, the fast idle should only increase the idle to approximately 950 rpm and when released it should go back to 800 rpm. When hot the idle speed lever should retract like the picture.

yes it was hot, not sure about water flowing inside, will verify tomorrow but most probably water is flowing inside it as pipes were not rusty.
no coolant yet, asked mechanic to install thermostat valve and pour coolant, he said to put thermostat in winters as its already hot in summer and i did not argue coz one day heat needle was creeping to 60% of the gauge, it was approx 35C outside with 100% AC on and bumper to bumper traffic, it happened first time ever in this car, having it from 7 years, no heat issue at all ever.

sir it doesnt go back to 800, it stays very little below 900rpm.

the CSD will not function without the thermostat valve. You may need to reclean the CSD with some more acid, dont remove the pump, simply use a funnel and pipe and pour in some battery water so that it goes into the pipe fittings and comes out, let it sit and flush with water/soda mix - reconnect the lines and retest.
