Cause despite 2c being a simple engine we still tend to have the ancient bedford era practices and mechanics. And a general blow stigma that is mostly mis diagnosed and overhauled have seen 2cs overhauled as low as 80k so makes one wonder. As for the optitron meters i am pretty sure that the simple 2.0d wiring pinout has the tacho signal wire there by default just no input will check out the cluster wiring diag and will let you know for sure .

It uses a 90916-03046 82 degree thermostat. If you were using water and for a long time i would suggest to throughly clean the system inspect the union for water bypass that leads from the block to the csd thats gets easily rotten. The water inlet where the thermostat is placed use a quality o ring for the thermostat and before installing the thermostat and before doing a citric acid flush do a couple of flushes with clean water make sure you remove any loose debree especially from the heater core run the car so the system pressurises and inspect any major leaks time to think about water pump bearings as mostly just water imo has an impact on the waterpump life. Replace all hoses unclog the mini csd hoses unclog csd device approach it carefully

Hello PW, suggestion needed for Toyota 2l engine , either overhaul or swap it with another used engine, I have just checked the compression and oil pressure of engine and at present compression is 295 290, 280 and 340 psi , at warm engine and without adding oil in cylinders, cold oil pressure at idle is 42 psi and at 65 psi at 3000 RPM , hot oil pressure at idle is 18psi and 57psi at 3000 RPM , engine starts well when it is warm but does take lot of cranks couple of glowplug sessions when it is cold , I did check the glow plugs and they are all ok , also checked the valve clearance and injection timing , all with in specs , no issue of oil/coolant mixing , engine stands perfect at idle ,
Suggestion needed for either overhaul or swap , I personally feel engine is solid and it is possible to restore back , thanks ,

it was just a bad relay, heaters were not receiving current. relay changed and now it takes only one heater.

Engine is running factory filled coolant.I want to change it.Can i use Caltex over the existing one or I have to flush out the whole system??

Never mix two different coolants flush it first and then fill caltex coolant

Today i drove my friends 2.0d, as compared to his car,my car is a bit more clanky at idle..
What things to check??
Car is 163k driven..car starting is outstanding..starts even without glows..

check tappets at this mileage, ideally when the timing belt is changed - the tappets are adjusted too (replace shims) along with a valve seal job etc. Literally the engine becomes semi new when the correct belt job is done.

otherwise - if its just clicky but starts and runs correct leave it be, it maybe a slight advanced pump, but dont mess unless you have dialgauge.

Sir ist timing belt was replaced at 75k kms, at 100k I replaced shims , valve seals etc
Today I replaced timing belt again at 163k kms..
Believe me car runs outstanding but i am a bit worried about idle knock and smoke at high revs

it will slightly smoke at high revs, its normal. The clack noise is also normal unless you are getting some really bad fuel mileage or bad EGT.

Sir i am pretty sure that the timing is a little over advanced but the problem is that no one here in my city has dial guage..those who have it don’t know how to use it.it there any alternative way??

With the larger 120mm (90915-30002-8t) filter 5.2 litres and with smaller filter exactely 5 litres (06 and above ) indus was different. My car gives me about 12.5 to 14 in traffic and with aircon

Dry fill: 4.8-5.3 L
With oil filter change: 4.3-4.5 L
Without oil filter change: 3.8 L
