the reused nozzle pressure is what I was referring to when I said settled in.
Brand new stock nozzles are set to 140 or 145.
time the pump with dial gauge, btw - what nozzles were used?
I am sourcing the dial guage adapter these days and will then readjust the timing inshallah.is the following procedure correct??1.bring the cyl 1 to tdc2.insert the dial guage with a pre load of .20 mm.3.zero the guage.4.turn the engine counter clockwise until the guage stops moving.5.again zero the guage.6.bring back to tdc.7.adjust the pump to .83mm.
How to disable the CSD??Should i perform it on a hot engine or cold?
The csd can be moved with a screwdriver shaft. You will understand once you look at it working (I hope yours is working)
The procedure is correct, but I'll have to dig to find the exact dot to dot procedure of where to stop the engine on the timing pointer.
This is done on a dead cold engine.
those books are buried somwhere,
@agoodfriend
can you flip a few pages to see the timing procedure, I think the mark to stop it is a bit unique on 2C
i plan to make a dozen of such adopters and send every one who need that ,,,,,,,, will do it soon ,,,,,,
and i set all four of them at exactly at 150 bar ,,,,,,,,, 2 bar less then the limit mentioned in manual ,,,,,,,,,
make a 9mm spacer ,,,,,, and place it in between plunger and its lever ,,,,,,,
Sir can you please post a picture of your adapter
kindly check it here
Sir how you have extended the dial guageās pin?
its not extended ,,,, its a kind of attachment which pushes the dial gauge ,,,,,,,
Thanks
btw - I had the same brass adapter but I had the machinist turn a brass rod so it fit perfectly in there (no side movement)
As it was brass - it was self lubing and never corroded - I used to spray some coconut oil on the thing after use and keep it in a small jewelry case for safekeeping. - To be honest I dont even know where it is right now - Must be hiding in one of my sandooqs. LOL.
I have the dial indicator though - as I use it a lot.
I am just waiting for my injector nozzles to break in.in this time i will arrange the dial guage adaptor inshallah.@agoodfriend plz help me in this
I have a Prado 2000 model with 1kz te engine without intercooler. It starts quickly when engine is cold but has trouble starting when engine is hot. And when starts a lot of white and black smoke come after hot engine starting. Engine is fine . Does this engine has cold start device. And does it require timing of injection or is it electronically controlled. Recently my mechanic cleaned and did something to the injector nozzles.
That would be the best thing and highly appreciated.
Starter, injection pump and nozzles are the reason for this issue. You need to get them checked by a qualified mechanic 1 by 1.
Injection pump is ok as it revs upto 4500 rpm.starter is ok. Nozzles will be checked by cummins asap. Can it be due to any faulty sensor
Do check the fuel lines for any leaks as well . Since you mentioned that the mechanic fiddled with the nozzles i am guessing that they are set at incorrect pressures or their washers leaking.
