Diesel Engine Timming with Dial Guage

Aoa dear members, anyone know about any mechanic in any city who can time diesel engine injection pump using dial guage as @Xulfiqar teaches us about....

Anyone in Lahore, Karachi or anyother city..
Engine in question is Toyota 2C engine of corolla...

Before you start your dial gauge mechanic hunt, make triple sure your injection pump and nozzles are not set to “diesel service ustaad specification” - the pump should be set to toyota spec, including the internal pressure, the spill sleeve timing, total hydraulic advance etc

And finally make sure your cold start device is fully working or is completely disabled and isolated from its thermostat capsule. If its stuck engaged you will never be able to set the pump timing.

Yes the nozzles are not changed pump has never been disassembled yet, still in factory settings since its now 141000 kms driven...CSD is working i closely observed it..it is in advance position in cold start and after driving more than an hour or you say 100 kms i checked it went to retard position completely and also engine sounds smooth and not loud when car reaches its optimal temp, CSD goes back to retard position...

Now i am.checking for any well versed person to do valve clearance job, changing of valve seals timing with dial guage...the routine maintenance as you defined

Any expert in your mind ?..

Its a mindset that is not ingrained but actually burned in our society.

People will look for the cheapest of the cheapest way to get bare minimum working, in other words, if they need a real electrician job at home, they will hire a handyman.

Same with cars, you see people lining up to shops to have car converter washed, throttle washed, radiator washed, liquid molvi oil change, engine swap, transmission swap, etc etc, all of which are “cash grabs”

While real mechanics saw their business drying up, they left and the skill they had was very useful and in demand in almost all other developed or developing countries unlike in pk where its considered a failures job.

Btw

Your cold start device should retard timing within a few minutes of startup if your thermostat is present. Make sure its not stuck open causing it to delay in retarding the timing.

You are very much right, i have seen my friends having cars but when it comes to maintenance they will look for low cost and negotiations and opt to buy cheapest part etc etc ,and thats why i have seen in my circle cars that are not very much old but 5, 6 years old and end up with hundered of problems, that they cant even rely on their cars to go on long drive

Thats something i noticed today and was about to ask you, CSD isnt getting retard so quick...it takes time to retard and if i park for 20 30 min it again reaches to advanced position...

I replaced thermostat 10 months before....checked and tested in boiling water, previous one was stuck open... this is (kabuli) one i installed and now its cold weather here so car isnt reaching optimal temp, it reaches half of gauge in day time sunny weather or traffic jam, while after dusk in cold weather temp needle stays slight above C

Shall i replace this thermostat too? As i am not able to find any new here anywhere, all are kabuli,
But i am getting one on Ali express and Daraz
90916-03046 is its part number

What do you say? This thermostat also looks faulty?

Your thermostat is faulty and is stuck in open position, get a new one, it was quite cheap too I recall as it doesnt use a positive close bypass hat on it, its a plain small tstat valve.

Update...

Finally found genuine thermostat valve of Toyota, tested and checked at home, working properly..will install tomorrow in sha Allah
Mechanic is saying that (kabuli thek hota hau apka apna kam kr raha hai thermostat day time tou half tak temp pohnch jata hai..ye sardya zyada hai tou rat ko esliye C py hota hai...pipes ko zor laga k es nateejy par pohncha k thermostat is working )

Khair i asked him that its none of your business just install this one tomorrow

Havent yet installed t-stat due to some workload i was busy..today i took pic a while ago. Kindly check it if the old t-stat is functional or not...

Even on highway at constant speed the needle was lower than this position...in morning startup it gets almost 15 to 20 min to reach optimal temp but if i am driving in light foot or constant speed highway temp guage stays lower...

You were very much right, it was slightly stuck open, changed thermostat valve new one and changed coolant too...
It reaches optimal temp very quickly despite of how much cold weather is

Yesterday i changed timming belt for my toyota 2.0D as a routine maintenance since it ran more than 50,000kms and belt wasnt genuine so bought genuine Toyota belt and changed it, changed coolant…
Thermostat valve is present genuine bought and installed 6 months ago, CSD is operational since you taught me how to make it working

But now the problem after changing timming belt is HOT start issue which wasnt before now i drove it and then stop so it wont start if i start it quickly, and if i wait for 5 to 10 min then it gets start…

What can be the reason, just changed timming belt and oil pump O ring and Crank and cam seal etc,..

Checked the tappets, all valve seals were free in gap and moving but 7th number was hard to move..hard tappet..
My mechanic didnt do anything and said its fine…

Is it the reason for my hot start issue? As before timming belt changing episode starting was perfect…

What should i do now?

P.S pump hasnt been timmed, i know what u say about that but couldnt find anyone with dial guage so didnt do any cherkhani with injection pump, it hasnt been serviced or ustadified ever…

Please give sometime about this issue and guide me further
