Its alrite yaar!!.. I mean I know now that its a good thing to why not spread the word. Plus there are alot of people who have direct fan and want to do this , but dont do it because either they dont realise the importance or they just need a gentle push. So, better be gentle and leave the decision onto them. Believe me , its a very good strategy.

mr uzzzyyy's thermostat is eigther removed or clogged so its faulty second fan is direct and its car heats up to half
now what else is left on ur side this proves that something is rong in coolin system and i suggest u uzzzyyyy it may b thermostat valve as it is clogged 0r jamd to such a position that it is restricting water flowww

Here is the clear ans.. Thermostat is a MUST even if the fans are direct...

Removing thermostat and making fans direct is STUPID...

Direct fans with thermostat installed is OK...

The thermostat controls the minimum operating temperature of the engine. The maximum operating temperature is controlled by the amount of heat being produced by the engine at the time and cooling system's ability to dissipate heat. The technical definition of a thermostat is a temperature responsive control valve. The thermostat controls the temperature and amount of coolant entering the radiator. While the engine is cold, the thermostat remains closed, allowing coolant to circulate only inside the engine. This allows the engine to warm up uniformly and eliminates hot spots. When the coolant reaches the opening temperature of the thermostat, the thermostat begins to allow coolant to the radiator. The hotter the coolant gets, the more the thermostat opens, allowing more coolant to flow through the radiator.

Thank you very much for correcting yaar, but cool down, you still seems hot from that skirmish with crazy_rider :-). My bad for being a paindoo. .It IS called a THERMOSTAT and not a thermostat valve.

I went through your post. quite informative!!. magar yaar you forgot one thing. What you said about Uzzy's car was based on the fact that his car had a thermostat valve. Infact it does nt have one. Thats what I was checking for in my last posts. He is saying that his car temp used to remain way cooler until few days ago when it has started heating up.

Plus his if you read his last post. he said it takes 15-20 min for temp to reach only 25% of the gauge. Certainly that means that engine is way slower in warming up which is a result of constant flow of coolant indicating absence of thermostat.

the needle dont goes up wen idle but still manages to go to 25% if kept idle for 15-20 minz.

Also , my suzuki thermostat has a operating temperature of 82 degress C as well.

I think operating temperature varies with different cars.

It's possible to remove thermostat from any car but why would you?

Direct fans with thermostat installed is NOT bad...

But direct fans with thermostat removed is STUPID...

The car is going to stay cold all the time.. engine won't reach it's operating temperature and so many other problems with devices that depend on coolant temperature to adjust settings.

But... Let me clear this again

And sorry... I don't know I have never seen cars comming out of a factory without thermostat installed in them...

When I started working for GM.. I wasn't even told about cars without thermostat..

Maybe older cars used to come without thermostat and maybe there are sill some cars in Pakistan without thermostats.

If the car came without thermostat from the factory.. than it's fine.. but if someone remove thermostat on your own and make fans direct.. they should get a reward for being the most stupid DIY mechanic...

My Mehran didnt have it either. I know it because the engine use to take alot of time to warm up ( only to 10%).

Dada all new car comes with heat switch in radiator and thermostat for cooling system, but our genius mechanics remove them without letting us know because that way they think the engine will run cooler and wont heat up. Thats the issue on which me and crazy_rider are talking. Uzzy's car thermostat has been removed as well , as far as i can figure out. but it has start heating up despite that. What do you think could be the problem ??,. and its solution.

Again that sensor is called ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor)

Anyway...

If the mechanics remove something from your car... they should be fined...

Here if they remove something from car and lets say your car starts to heat up 500 km from your house....

first of all.. they will have to pay for tow back to your house or the workshop... then you can claim in court for refunds or travel charges.. or the stress caused by the problem...

And if one mechanic removed something from car and you take the car to another mechanic and he/she notices the problem... they ask you to get it fixed.. if it's a serious problem... they inform the ministry of transportation... because of they don't and something happens to you or your car... they stand responsible...

Example... An old lady took her car to the dealership for oil change... and the mechanic there noticed the alternator wasn't working properly because the battery light was on in the dash...He told her about the problem... but she didn't wana get it fixed and was in hurry... half an hour later her car stopped on highway and she got out of the car.. as soon as she got out of the car.. a truck came and hit her.. she died.. guess who was fined... the mechanic.. for not informing the ministry...

Anyway.. I guess I have bored you enough now...

it hapens some times now things r clear n chear up i m soory 4 ny misdeed
khate hain k baaroon ki baat mano and i said re-read the thread with open eyes

now all things r crystal clear

if gasket was burt than engine oil must hav mix with coolant which is not the case and if gasket is blown then ther is another way that air bubbles staart to come in radiator and water level starts to decrease as it escapes thrught gasket
my opinion is something is cloged

cheak it that if oil is comin in radiator than gasket in blown or open radiator cap n rev it n see 4 any air comin out if comes get gasket changed

Uzzy puttar, here is the link to install a new car thermostat.

It shows show where you can find a thermostat. Its in the point where upper hose of the radiator connects to the engine body.

Now what I suggest is

1) Check that your car's thermostat is installed or not. I am pretty sure at this point that it wont be. But just make sure. goto a mechanic and ask him to check it for you.

2) If it is not there, and the engine coolent is following directly ( as i am suspecting) then you have got a serious problem at your hand buddy. displacement_on_demand suggest it might be a gone head gasket. So get your car checked for overheating issue.

If your thermostat valve Is there. then most probably its clogged. so replace it and it should solve the problem. otherwise, come here, we will help you out.
