Dirt stains on cars

I drive a white 2019 Cultus and have been noticing dirt marks on it for a few months now. After a recent wash, I found dirt spots that felt sticky, like the residue left after removing a sticker. Even after washing the car twice, with shampoo and then surf, the dirt stuck to the body. The wash guy suggested a compound polish. I've been using Turtle car shampoo but recently switched to Tonyin, which seems to leave a sticky feel. Should I use a pre-wash or go for a compound polish? Any advice?

Compound might be too aggressive. I'd suggest to take some cotton wool, spray a lot of WD40 into the wool and aggressively rub out the marks. If that fails, then you may go down the compound route.

Never use "surf" to wash your car !!! If you really believe, it's a "sticky" surface like the one after removing a sticker ~ we use "tar & sticker remover".

If you want tonyin products directly from the dealer, visit mpowerautos in lahore. It's in montgomery road lahore, he's the main importer of the brand & a really good friend of mine (owner). Where's this info coming from, I'm running my own shop in montgomery road ~ we buy 1000s of products from them ( wholesale ). They'll give you good rates. Needless to say, they have a official store on daraz and they have their own sites ~ all of em are owned by them.

Also, they have proper videos of every product in action ~ watch them before purchasing anything. But first, try the method highlighted by @msabbasi ~ if you already own a wd40.

thanks but stains are all over bonnet and doors so is it safe to use DW40 ?

Majeed motors, yup ! They are the official importers of tonyin. Sure! Visit them ~ they'll guide you. Yeaaa, yea wd40 is safe, unless you apply it all over your car & leave it there for ages. Apply a small amount on a microfiber cloth and test it out first ~ If the stains are removed, continue !! After the stains are completely removed, clean that area with car shampoo & wipe it dry with another dry microfiber. Make sure no excess wd40 is left on the car paint.

As @sohikun said, It is safe. Try a small area so you can get comfortable with its use. If it does not work, try other ideas as suggested by other posters here. If WD40 works, wash the car after treatment with WD40 with shampoo and give it a wax polish afterwards.

Seems like tree sap. Use sticker remover or rubbing alcohol for cleaning.

Nope, never ever use 99% isopropyl alcohol on your car paint ~ it’s too concentrated. If you really wanna use it ~ dilute it with water first, okay? Also, @pwuser16685052516 you can get "sticker & tar remover" from the same shop. Mpowerautos aka majeed motors ~ they have one under brand name of "tonyin". Ask em, which one is the most effective. Again, try the wd40 method first before purchasing anything else.

My dear fellows, this is a very simple job. Just go to any good workshop and tell them you want to get the compound polish done. Nothing else. Don't try home remedies on your car. And compound is not harsh. So feel free to use it.

It's hard to find a good "workshop" now adays. Normally, workshops use "harpic" & "dettol" to clean the car ~ then they say "gadi paak saaf ho gai hai". It's a DIY, an easy fix. Compound, wd40 or a "sticker & tar remover" are all applicable fixes ~ with "tar & sticker remover" being the most effective.

Yes actually compound by it's own is not a good approach as one doesn't know how to even out the reflection after getting the compound rubbed. It takes alot of rubbing. So he can go to any reputated workshop. Maybe he can get any clues on Google maps

These are streak marks. Not something to be concerned about. Usually happens if you are using hard water or leave the shampoo/detergent for too long on the paint during washing (biggest factors)

The last pic pretty much shows your car's full of them. WD40 is a good way of cleaning residue spots but it might get tiresome if you have to do the whole car. Easiest way to fix this by going for a compound/polish. Try polishing a section to see if it helps. If it does, stick to that particular polish and get the job done. They are easier to work with and not as aggressive as compounds. A great product to keep at home is the Autoglym SRP. Service stations wala use those terrible kangaroo etc hard wax claiming they're polishes. That's not the case. If you want it done by them, tell them to use a bottle of scratchX (most of them have these in their stash boxes).

I don't think you need to go the compound way. The polishing will pretty much revive the paint and get rid of the streaks. Always get your car washed in a shaded area and get it dried up asap. The dirt coming off the paintwork with your nail calls for a detailing job. A claybar, polish and wax are your best friends. The tonyin shampoo you're using is fine too. I believe they are pH neutral. If you dont want to polish and wax from time to time, get a good cleaner wax. Best of both worlds.

Nope, "tar & sticker remover" is the most effective & easiest way ~ tested it mutiple times. It was specifically designed for this!

Yea, they usually purchase alot of kangroo cosmic polish and kangroo hard-wax from our shop in wholesale, along with 400 GSM micorfibers.

Hate to break it to you, but it's rare in lahore. Currently, these fools are opting for cheaper solutions ~ They are purchasing a locally made compound which is available for 300 Rs. It claims to be a scratch remover and everything you can imagine ~ chrome polish, rust remover, basically a compound. It's smells like dogs*, but does the job. Needless to say, i would NEVER recommend it.

Always get your car washed in a shaded area and get it dried up asap.

I know very well what "tar and sticker remover" is used for. Please read what I've written. I never recommended compound/polish for cleaning residue. That'll make it worse by destroying your pad. WD40 is a good cheap alternative to clean residue/tar/glue off paintwork. Is it recommended? No. Will it get the job done if need be on a small scale? Yes

I'm not concerned with where service stations walai get their products from. Regarding the white generic all in one pathetic white paste they use for everything, yeah, not recommended. However, i've seen multiple PSO pumps in Lahore that have scratch X. if the service station walai dont, get one and give it to them to get the job done. They'll charge you 3-5k. This again is something i'd avoid and rather have the paintwork detailed by a professional.

AG SRP is a great polish. Super easy to use, has mild polishing abilities and excellent glazing. One of the best "use by hand" products. 3M paste wax is another great product. Mild polishing ability with glazing and carnauba. There are ton's of products readily available out there to prevent situations like this from happening.

One last thing. Glad you're friends with the owner of majeed motors. Tonyin is a good brand. For the price, they do perform great. I tested them out a long while back particularly their iron out since it's a great alternative to IronX. That being said, there are better products out there. That depends entirely on who's getting it and for what purpose
