Driver Side Trim Removal:
1) Remove the silver trim (simply unplug the clips holding it) and the ignition surround
2) This will reveal the same screw for the removal of the vent and the first of the plastic shield screw's under the steering column (Blue circle).
3) The second screw is located at the lower left region of the shield (red circle).
4) To get access to the 3rd screw, you need to remove the driver side kick panel. Unplug the driver side door sill and lift it up halfway so the kick panel can be removed. Unscrew the plastic nut from the kick panel. And pull the kickpanel towards yourself. There it is, the third screw circled in yellow.
5) Use the blunt knife to unplug the top clips holding the shield on both sides of the steering column after removing all three screws. Once the shield comes off, remove the switches to your side mirror adjustment switch (red circle) etc. Once that is done, you need to remove the fuel and hood opener levers. Simply push on the center of the leaver (blue arrows) and push the leavers out (red arrow direction). Pull the leavers out of their slots.
6) Once the shield is off, you can remove the black trim around the instrument cluster. There are 2 screwed clips holding it in place. Use a blunt knife and slot it in between the dashpad and the trim above each screw at a time. While you have the knife there, using a screwdriver, unscrew the plastic screw all the time using a little force from the knife to pull down on the trim. The clip will just simply fall out. Simple.
