Summary: It was an underwhelming experience!
I took my Honda City for AC checkup to Dmotorsports Islamabad. The reason for going there was because the owner claimed to do a professional AC job with proper equipment. For me proper equipment was a good reason to go try them out.
When I got there, I told them what the issue was. The car AC would simply stop working after about 2 hours of driving. There would no or very little air be blowing through vents even if the fan speed was turned to 4, I could feel that the air was cool but since the fan speed becomes so low it couldn't keep the cabin cool.
They thought that it might be something to do with the carbon bushes in the blower under the dashboard. They took it out and I was informed that the blower was indeed the culprit. The owner told me that they can have one delivered for about Rs 6500/- and that these blowers are taken out of the original half cuts (Qabli). I gave them my go ahead to get one for me.
When the blower was delivered, I compared it to my original blower. I found the quality to be lower compared to mine. There were 3 stamps on my blower a Honda stamp, a part number stamp and I am guessing a stamp from the manufacturer of that product. The Qabli one had only the part number stamp and the finishing of that stamp was not what the same as the one on mine. The quality of the plastic of blower and the fan was also not as good as the one taken out of my car. I wasn't satisfied as it didn't seem an original product to me. I informed the owner of my reservations , the owner tried to convince me that this unit is indeed Qabli and you may check from anywhere else. I decided to not go ahead with this Qabli unit and wanted to visit the market first to confirm that this is indeed what a Qabli unit looked like.
I apologized and asked to have my faulty blower be fitted back. At this point the owner's body language changed completely. He was frustrated and seemed angry, though didn't say anything to me. While my old unit was being fitted back, the owner composed himself a little and told me that it's fine and that my satisfaction was their priority. He referred to incurring the cost of having the unit delivered here. I told him that I will pay the delivery charges and charges of taking out the blower and putting it back since they did put in some effort.
After the blower was put back in they checked the AC refrigerant readings and found that there wasn't enough. Regardless of what my diagnosis was they should've begun with this step and checked the cooling refrigerant first instead of opening the blower. This might very well be the issue to begin with. Well I wanted to have the blower installed first before refilling the refrigerant. My friends were here by the time we were checking the refrigerant, one of them asked about an issue he was facing with his car. He told "Hum problem statement discuss nai kertay, log humaray pass kaam kerwanay aatay hein." Make of this what you will.
I asked the owner about how much I owed him for his time. He talked about how he spent the afternoon with me and thus he couldn't give time elsewhere and how he had to pay the delivery charges. As I had told him earlier that I would pay so I asked him how much? He told me Rs 1500/- total. Labor charges were Rs 1500/-and Rs 500/- for the delivery. When we were talking about having the blower delivered he had told me that it would be Rs 200 - 300. So my problem wasn't fixed and the owner charged me Rs 1500/- I would have happily paid a fair amount but this was just unethical. Me being a moron I did pay the full amount. One must always always speak up about what he feels is wrong.
As per the "TIME" he spent with me, even if I am being generous, it took at max 15 mins to take out the blower and maybe another 15 mins to put it back and this is me being very generous I believe.
So Dmotorsports might be really good at their work, I'll never know. The purpose of the topic was to share my experience, I feel like people should know before visiting.
