You do know the basics about HOW CARS or VEHICLES are made? Trust me with EVs in the market, mechanics like US who get to repair age old cars are in relief, as diagnosing an EV car vs an old combustible engine is quite easy plus quick cash. I for one would be quite relieved by EVs in the market. Now coming to our requirements of charging them via home outlets or commercial charging points, we are not even getting 12 HOURS of continuous electricity here, UPS and Generators are norm of this decade. Plus apart from ENGINE and Transmission that again USES SAME principle of delivering power to wheels, we lot who contribute here and read about your BS about us going out of business is biggest misconception one could have.

I remained working in China. All scooters are electric. Very convenient. No noise ..no pollution...in general no maintainence...can be charged at home office or shop..and after one charge u can drive 60 km approx...which is our daily ride in small cities. And cost is 2500 yuan which is 40000 Rs..Very good as compared to our smoke and noise factories like bike

so apparently you are ignorant of the fact that a car has more assemblies than an engine.

Please do proceed to drive on in your ev when a ball joint breaks from a pothole. Which it will as your average ev is 30% heavier than your ice car and has to be made cheaper and lighter ergo weaker. Or some moron burns out the diff because nobody should replace a flat tire on it, after all its failure proof, its diff also is magic and won't wear out from mismatched tires.

Do report to us how it magically levitates itself off the road when that happens. as ev are literally failure proof according to you. And also how it self heals a drive unit when running one tire smaller

Btw, do tell here which part of pk is getting uninterrupted power with out private power generation unit? I also wish to invest in some real estate there. Honestly,, ill pay you an excellent commission.

According to kb warriors here, Tesla are charged in nano seconds just by hopes and dreams which Mr musk personally ensures to every totaled and rebuilt junked Tesla that will land in pk.

Tesla do actually disable supercharging on junked and rebuilt cars. So its the 10 hr charge for them, I tried using taaluqaat and also siyasi and Foji sifarish . Also tried mithai ka box, they didn't work to quicken up a parts order. I don't think Tesla will entertain some poor dude in pk who bought a gray import heap.

I have been hearing that since 20 years,
Yet I got 2 transmissions dropped off for overhaul,, I thought that I would never redo a gearbox after Tesla.. but here I am.

Should I return them?

My family bought a Civic in 2005, and the only things that have needed maintenance is the engine, gearbox, power steering and it has been in 3 major accidents, even though it's been so many years 220000km. The systems you mentioned are usually very robust and don't need that much maintaining.

Now on to the other things you mentioned, when fuel cars first came, they didn't have petrol stations everywhere, the stations came after the public need for them grew.

And EVs can be easily charged at home, and if I had bought an EV, it would be smart to add solar to my roof as an EV is basically a giant battery. So not only could help me if there was load shedding but also I will get to drive everyday FOR FREE.

This argument is about the rights of the consumer; Pakistan has one of the worst consumer rights. If I want a petrol car or an EV it should be allowed. I shouldn't have to pay bribes and go through shaddy (Haram) methods to go an buy any car I want. I think everyone can agree on, this point.

Now if you are talking about firefighter and paramedic training. Hahahh there is virtually no training for any type of vehicle let alone EVs.
Not their fault, it's the govt, and we should all speak up about such issues.

However because EVs have batteries, they do not ignite immediately, they heat up slowly and keep burning that way for hours. This can give passengers ample time to vacate even with their belongings.

This also helps the fire fighter reach the destination even in traffic such as Pakistan's and the recommended way to treat such a fire is to slowly keep adding water to fire. No special chemicals that are needed to treat oil fires.

Car guru (on youtube) didn't get his supercharging disabled. Also the single gear transmission is usually a lot more robust than any multigeared counterpart.

You are right that if we get shit broken up cars and try to rebuild them we'll end up getting really bad cars which don't work, but that's the case for all vehicles.

Everyday I see a post of some poor fellow on pakwheels say engine reducing oil or JDM car not having enough pick etc.

We really have to deal with this rebuild mafia but obviously we can't do it alone.

Hopefully your transmission overhaul went well. It's really an art how you guys can fix something so complex.

I have been repairing automatic transmissions since ages now, I also did them in Pakistan too - no matter if it was a tiny fwd micro unit or from a highway bus.

in any case, your point of the car guru guy is right - his supercharging was still working but the supercharger network did not pick it up as his own car. It was detecting the original donor car. If you watch the videos again, Tesla would not entertain his call on the idle time for the supercharger station because his car VIN is a salvage one (it has been declared totalled and rebuilt)

i work in the power industry and have experience of hydel, wind and transmission line projects in pakistan.. i have worked with General electric , Alstom and was involved in the upgrade of national power control centre. i can claim with certainty that pakistan's national grid system is perfectly fine (if not the best in the world ) and is capable to handle the demands ( peak and off peak ) . we do have certain issues like grid instability, bijli chori and billing etc but overall the system is well designed and managed,

LESCO is even working on smart grids with SIEMENS and has imported reverse billing meters . ( you may want to research that )

Dear blueazure, even though you have strong opinions in favor of EVs (I do myself), I would appreciate if you (and all of us, really) turned down the harshness of our conversation.

Let's not attack each other and their opinions just because they are different than ours(like it's usually done in TV talkshows), but rather, let's have a calm and well informed discussion about these things.

Fighting and rudeness doesn't achieve anything.

lol, talk about typical pakistani behaviour, and yes you can be very well experienced in power generation, but you have proven to the full that you are extremely short sighted about transport structure or vehicles on a larger scale.

I also want to ask a clarification of 22 hours? - is this considered a day in Pakistan? are you guys on another time scale that the globe does not know about. Or are you implying that 22 hours is a considered a day in power supply or should I consider 22 hours power supply per day as a blessing from the masters?

EVs are failure proof and require absolutely no upkeep. (Coming from a person who claims to have worked in a large scale industrial setting)

EVs in Pakistan are going to be a success because the first world is adopting them as the holy grail - well I didnt know Pakistan is the first world now?

Pakistan has no electricity issues - hmm, I wonder why personal power generators and online UPS are being sold everyday by the tens of thousands in Pakistan and are found in literally every average house in pk.

If you cannot understand my posts, look up the old GMC delivery trucks from the early part of the 20th century and the baker vehicles - how come they were not produced later on?

REASON was - weak grid to support charge stations and lack of range which limits your movement and lack of serviceability - just like Pakistan.

if someone starts driving from Karachi to Peshawar in an EV with a 300 km range per charge, he/she will probably have to stop quite a ways in between and plug in their car for hours on end to get going again and get robbed too (best Pk experience - its a cherished treasure)

while an ICE vehicle can get going again in a few minutes.

Unless you can actually prove that charging stations exist for everyone in Pk and are cheap to use and are plenty on the main national roadways - your argument is invalid.

EVs arent replacing IC engines overnight, i never claimed that. yet an EV will certainly replace city car driving while a hybrid etc can be used for long leg journey ( UK is doing that ) . charging infrastructure is still to be mass deployed while hi charging times are still a present impediment

2. for the last 4 months now, i have uninterrupted power at my home, UPS has been never used. on the ground fact is that the govt has banned all new projects for the very reason that now the worst part of electricity crisis is over. i cannot blame you for being 6000 miles away and being ignorant at the same. a nissan leaf EV plugged in at a 30AMP 220VAC home receptacle at 11PM would be fully charged by 7AM and can easily manage the daily chores . or you can take it to a supercharger and have it charged 50 percent in 20 mins

3. the world has been using EVs for almost 7 , 8 years now and there have been no reliability issues as such . nissan leaf ,chevy bolt, VW e golf owners have reported satisfactory feedback with very rare bugs, this can be verified by anyone online. if i remember my Stress analysis course work, the drive shaft of a normal IC engine vehicle is good for 1 million miles.

4. please explain to me the technological impossibilities of EV charging infrastructure implementation ? a hi voltage 3.3 kV line can be rigged to any step down trafo and produce 660VDC for 3 charging receptacles, Tesla is doing that for ages now with no problems, unless you believe pakistan doesnt have 3.3KV infrastructure !

5. i still dont understand your fascination with electric battery fires ? what exactly is your point ? a fire fighting crew can be easily trained to mitigate it, the only thing different with the austrian fire was the crew using masks to protect against the toxic chemical fumes

my area was never under load shedding during past 8 years when worst was happening around, being in a location which suffered 2-6 hours shut down till October 2016, does that mean all was well because we were connected over an exempted grid ?

dreaming is a birth right. day dreaming is about ambitions and being ambitious, however ground realities are real bitter and tough.

You may have worked in power sector from behind the desk in a glass cabin, lived in an load shedding exempted locality but situation is not what you Perceived.

POWER projects banned is political scam. Sitting Govt is twisting the project owners to utilize LNG which is sold at 1.75 times expensive then the actual landed cost.

do some actual field survey outside 30 km radius of your urban comfort zone seek the common man opinion about power shortage(s), perhaps you are confusing LESS load shedding with Zero Load shedding.

about EVs, no harm in dreaming about it, with collaborative efforts of Govt and the Automotive industry may be by 2030 onwards EV vehicles officially land into Pakistan, till then we need to keep fingers crossed.
