Aoa all. I have swapped a 4Grfse engine in Mercedes Sprinter Van to be used as RV or luxury van for long hauls. We installed an electronic power steering from.mark x with its EPS ecu...all wiring connected but it does not work or communicate with engine ecu or obd scaner .....can qnyone help make it work?
Anyone who has tried this steering rack EPS ecu ...can help me out....
Wiring is all done as per diagram
a German Mercedes Sprinter van with an JDM Mark - X EPS this will be an interesting thread to follow @Xulfiqar @ser_gtr @hassan1991 @dani_kk @VCheng @rajaatta
in order to configure the EPS it shall be having a signal feed from TPS of Vehicle engine ECU
Yes it was an old proj if u remrmber, we were busy in work so couldnt finish it....but now we have to, so far the engine and gear box is error free, new tires installed....all interior stripped .....Needto run this mark x EPS so it can move on its own....so experts ....need help

just a curious question. what is wrong with stock OEM steering ? Mercedes Sprinter vans are used as cargo & micro buses in present day Afghanistan. If you show somebody picture of part and the vehicle at torkham border scrapyards, they may help you source the working oem part in under a weeks time.
I believe this topic is connected to this one
Yes....... But OEM steering was leaking and were in shaby condition....more over Mark x engine 4GRFSE does not come with a hydraulic pump. Last....we dont want a hydraulic steering as it puts deadload on mqin crank, while electronic power steering is seldom.used and very energy efficient, hassel free system. I have installed EPS in my other van and also in a car.... Sukoon he sukoon...once EPS gets to work. . . . .
Hey @sdaniraza How are you?Obd2 has diagnostic communication the second priority.Standalone systems are connected with internal can bus.Like can be seen in diagram. Now you have to find which bits eps is looking for.You sure eps control unit is turning on?
My redundency plan is to install a small ESP motor between this Mark X EPS rack and steering column. And let this MrkX Esp plus wiring and ecu stay in place. Meanwhile this auxiliary motored EPS will assist (would not be a very light light steering ) untill i am able to run this Mark X EPS rack. And then these two EPS will work in tandum assisting a feather light steering even for this 5 Ton van.
EPS unit clicks and capacitors seem to be charging. We have connected gateway ecu with engine ecu, they communicate fine and send out information via dlc3 just fine....i think this ESP has a ( toyota prius ABS wala chakkar....) Reprogramming of some sort
do not make it so light to handle for such a monster please. Faster it goes harder it shall become, slower it moves lighter it shall be. (to manage parking & reversing maneuvers)
Yes that happens automatically n EPS ecu controls it. But still not able to turn it on ( mark x power steering)
Havent had hands on MarkX eps, but for honda eps, all it took was IGN signal, VSS, engine pulse along side power. Another wire was routed from eps ecu to OBD2 port. Post the inputs of EPS ecu, if you have.
I'm not clear here. You want to get it hooked in a way so it gets diagnosed? Or is it not turning on?
Mark x eps isnot turning on . we hooked it up all the wiring even wiring foe dlc3 obd but still it does not respond. If it was a simple one we could easily turn it on with IG wire or VCC andvTacho signal. But it is the one with 8 pins torque sensor and an BLDC motor 3 pin with 4 pin hall effect sensor. I try to send photos.
So far we have installed another Simple steering column mounted EPS which is working fine and using this Markx EPS steering rack (as manual) but need to turn it on. Anyone has an idea how to turn on a 3 pin BLDC motor with hall effect sensors????
