Engine oil for corolla 1.3

I want info for the engine oil for my used car i bought. Toyota corolla xli 2010 model 86000 KM driven. The seller told me that he was using toyota petron 20W50 engine oil. But someone said its very thick so which oil to use please tell urgently.

YES, someone told you right. 20w50 is not the right Engine oil grade choice for your car, at least not for the car with just the mileage of 86k kms. (However, if the mileage is accurate)

I suggest you first switch to 10w40 or 10w30 and regularly monitor the Engine oil dipstick for the Engine oil level, if the Engine oil level is getting low, then I suggest you stick with 20w50 as the thinner viscosity oil will not be suitable for your car now being used the oil grade of 20w50 for a while now by the previous owner, and if the level of Engine oil on the dipstick is okay, then after one or two Engine oil changes with 10w40 or 10w30, try 5w30 Fully synthetic and repeat that practice mentioned above, which is actually the recommended oil grade for your car.

The rest is your choice.

10W-30 or 5W-30 is good all weather engine oil.

use Shell Helix, PSO Carient, Titan (Fuchs) marketed by Hascol, AISIN, Toyota Taglon OEM.

Stay Away from TOTAL / HAVOLINE <--- being FRENCH product

IMO, you may continue using it. It won't bring any harm. IN SHA ALLAH.

Still, as 1st priority, switch to locally available 10w-40 fully synthetic engine oil by ZIC. Just ensure that oil is authentic.

If it works fine and you do not observe any oil consumption issues (yes, minor drop is acceptable, which can be accommodated via simple top up) or smoke from the exhaust, then as last resort, switch to 10w-30 mineral oil by Caltex / Havoline. Again, ensure that oil is authentic.

Change oil + oil filter after every 5,000 Kms / 06 months, whichever comes 1st.

If 10w-30 works fine, get stick to it, else if, upgrade to 10w-40 or 20w-50.

Caltex is owned by Chevron Pakistan and only dealing in Lubricants. @capsat they are not into consumer fuels anymore.

Yeh brother, change it to 10w40 and keep a close look on the engine oil level through dipstick, if the level of engine oil is reducing, then on the complete it's level and on the next oil change, go back to 20w50, otherwise stick to 10w40.

The rest is your choice.
