Nope. Its not OK. Both the Grade, as well as brand.

If engine health is perfect in all respects, there is no oil consumption issues with your engine, then 0w-20, 5w-20, 5w-30 and at max. 10w-30 are the recommended engine oil grades for your car.

Depending on the suitability, you may start from the thinnest and choose accordingly, or based on your requirements.

Shell Helix Ultra series, Total Quartz 9000 Future series, Kixx, ZIC, Caltex / Havoline / Chevron are some of the reputed brands.

You may choose any of these and use, but just ensure that oil is % genuine and original. Prefer fully synthetic, meeting latest API SN / SN Plus, and / or ILSAC GF-5 criteria.

You car's recommended oil grade is usually mentioned on the user manual or under the bonnet on a sticker like this.

As per my understanding you should be using 5w30 oil for your model mira....

Also note: 'for old car use 20w50 oil" is the most stupid uneducated logic by our local mechanics. Pls dont ever believe this logic.

Yes 5w30 is perfect. Just get original oil. Rest is fine.

Don't listen to him, if your car's engine is not giving any issues, like smoke from the exhaust, low compression, engine oil consumption, etc.

Different grades are there to meet different requirements; type of engine (gasoline, Diesel, etc.), design of engine, design of oil pump, driving in cold or hot weather, old engine, new engine, weak engine, etc.

Hi sir , I have Mira 2014 model 2017 registered , i was previously using Castrol 5w/30 OIL , My Car was giving 18/19 Km without A/C and 15/16 With A/C - And when my car runs 3000 kms My mechanic Changed the Oil , He used Pso 20w/50 Oil , Now My car is giving 9/10 Km on A/C and maximum 11.8 without A/C , My car is already crossed the 60000 Km , and Now it is 63040 km . please Let me know why my car suddenly gone from 19 to 11 . I have used the Gear filter of Vic . And Air filter of Leppon !

Does your car have any issues on 5w30 oil? It seems like your mechanic is an idiot. Switch back to 5w30 or 5w20 grade. That 20w50 oil is too thick for your car

No my car doesn’t have any issue on 5w/30 , idk why my mechanic use 20w/50 ! My car suddenly feels like heavy, and engine using more power on picking it up.

I have Mira Es 2015/18

Its mileage is about 63k. Recently bought it. Previous owner was using 10w40 of Total. Its giving me pretty good average of 23km/l on long and about 19-20 on local.

Should i use the same oil that the previous owner suggested or chose another one?

Help would be appreciated.

Switch back to 5w20 or 5w30 on the next oil change.
