Engine Oil for Old Cars

Fleet oil means its good for all piston type internal combustion engines. 5,000 kms oil drain is a good interval with good branded filter.

diesel rated oils have heavy duty detergents in them and they keep the engine sparkly clean and move the nasty stuff to the filter where it should be. I have used such oils in my own cars too in Pakistan.

I have question if you were in Pakistan, with your kind of skills you had to be i guess very rich here......... why did you left PAK? few since few days i was searching to read your success story but could not find I am sure everyone here would be interested in that

so you would be more comfortable in buying an entire new filter housing if your mechanic breaks it off? The plastic cap is cheaper and if for some reason it doesnt come off you can easily break it off and install a new one.

If you had a full metal one you will break the entire casing mount - and that is a very expensive item.

Sometimes the cars are super hot when they come for oil change, and in some particular cases its even hard to undo the filter because metals expands with temperature. So we let there for few minutes and after that try & eventually undo it.
Incase plastic, once break, though its easily available from spare part shop, but who will satisfy customer who will believe that we have broke down something in his genuine car?

I think your car is also flat tappet type. You would also have to use API/SJ Grade Oil

Brother use genuine filter Toyota OEM made by Denso in Thailand easily use it for 6 months even in a desert.

Cost Rs. 850 / pieces but worth every rupee.

Dost........... hever had user manual for this car........ owner manual says API/SJ grade engine oil they dont tell havoline or what ever..... and honda plans to skin you off by selling extremely expensive oils

Brother no Honda owners manual ever mention any Oil marketing company or brand.

In 1992 SJ was the best grade available.

Honda genuine oil is the cheapest nowadays made by Total Atlas Lubricants Pakistan.

Rs. 2,400/4L for 10W30 oil.

However, I prefer Castrol Magnatec 10W40 at same price.

yours and mine transmission is not DW-1 they are Dextron II as II is no more so its Dextron-III

Brother Dexron II and III are always temporary replacement.

ATF DW-1 is universal ATF backward compatible with all Honda Transmissions with torque converter.

However I use Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF for my Mom's CA4 3G Accord which has more than 300,000 km now on factory transmission.

we already have two same looking tools with us with additional T-road fixed to undo filters.
