I own a Toyota vitz 2012 and it's 73km on odo when I bought it I changed its oil and used shell 5w30 the service guy told me to change after 5k but after 3500km I went just for a check up and the same guy who first changed the oil told me that you need to change oil as it's thin and burnt I changed the oil and he said next oil is due after 3k km
Please guide should I switch to some othwr brand or continue using shell 5w30

the guy is bluffing with you.. synthetic oils are good to go even above 5000 km, so you can safely change them at 5000 km. 5w/30 is very safe to use in your vehicle. i've seen cars with odo more than 175 thousands working perfect on 5w/30.. change the oil change center, cuz the guy there seems to be looting you to sell his oil more !!

Switch to 0w20, the recommended grade for Vitz and enjoy the ride plus fuel economy.

If you can't find it then 5w30 can also be used but it's not ideal.

And, the guy is just talking trash. More than 5,000 is normal with fully synthetic API SN oils.

When I bought my car at 67000km I got my cvt oil checked rhe mechanic said its fine now its 73k km on odo should I change the cvt fluid

I don't know if the previous owner had changed tje cvt oil or not and right now there is no issue with the transmission

1st point, stick to 5w30 fully synthetic, total is a good brand, shell is also good
2nd point, in case car is burning oil, check the quantity on Regularly basis (every there days or weekly) calculate average consumption and top it up accordingly and change at 5k rather than 3k

But 5w30 is also in the owners manual bro does 0w20 reduce the knocking issue in vitz and I currently use hx7 helix 5w30 should I switch to 0w20 total quartz @mgalaxy3 @imrankhanmsb

5w30 is only mentioned when you can't find 0w20.

And then Toyota asks you to switch to 0w20 as soon as you find 0w20 again, at the next oil change.

Total and Shell both are equally good.

Knocking is engine physical issue, no oil will really solve it..

@saqibhassan95 dear I checked cvt gear oil 4l price it's 6200 on daraz where as a local oil agency gave me 4800 rate can you guide me on this thanks

Although the knocking is not much whoever some times in vibrates on idle a lot my cat is clean I use hi octane and regualary clean my filters and tuned up recently what might be other causes
