My Gli 2016 110,000Km
I was using Zic 10w-40 working Fine.
But this time Mechanic said its Summer and your car have run above 100,000 so you have to use 20w-50 grade, i have driven 20w-50 grade 2500 km but I’m not satisfied.Average is droped from 13-14 to 9-10 and pick is also not good this time.
Should I return to 10w-40??

Use 10w30 instead.These mechanics are just wannabees they don't know what they r talking about.U will ruin ur engine with 20w50 and timing chain will start giving noise if used extensively.

Recommended oil is 5w-30.
Even 10w-40 is thick. 100k milage is nothing for new car. Kindly used any good authentic 5w-30 oil. Shell/Pso/Total are good. Changed every 5000k km.
Stay away from imported oils.
Car engine runs at 95-98°c so don't worry about outside temp. 5w-30 will flow better and lubricate well.
Just take care of car cooling system. At 100k milage check coolant condition. Don't use tap water.
If radiator needs cleaning replace the old coolant with good quality Toyota/Aisin/Caltex coolant.

No.That,s all bs.Pakistan,s temperature isn't extreme.Other countries have way more heat still they use recommended engine oil.Our mechanics think they are smarter than the manufacturer themselves.Shift to 10w30 or 5w30 u will feel the difference for sure.

Use what's recommended in your owner's manual.
Mechanics knows crap. 2016 honda civic turbo here is running with 0w20 at 90k mileage. 2016 corolla altis 1.8 cvti is at 138k kms odo and on 5w30.

20w50 in a Corolla. At only 60,000 miles . No wonder cars last only as long as they do around here.

How is Taglon 5w-50? I was at Toyota defence today, they were recommending it for Corolla.

Buhat acha oil hai. Many members using it and no trouble at all. Idemitsu blended hai.. which makes it reasonably good. Baqi there are other options available as well.

Not recommended , 50 is on thicker side for our modern engines

5w-50 oils are generally for extreme use such as thrashing a sports car on a track for hours. Doesnt make sense for a gli

Manual allows from 5w-30 till 50. Tbh in corolla put whatever oil and phr bhi is nay chaltay rehna hai. Genuine is the most important thing. I use 5-30 and many friends are using taglon since last 4 years and actually they mostly get better mileage than what i get. Manual allows and so its not surprising. Idemitsu blending is also adding confidence. Inc could have easily sell 5w-30 as it really is not special grade still they import 5w-50. May be its better suited since even roughly driven cars are doing great so far in last so many years

Not all theories apply sometimes…. The grade has been proved excellent so far and its been 6 years of history now without any issue

Most wear n tear happens at cold starts for which the 5 is excellent. The -50 means that this oil doesnt thin at higher temperatures which is also good.
Usually 5w-50 oils are expensive thats why i said that. What the price of this one.

Around 5000/4L. Pretty decent oil and no tension of fake

Dont buy taglon oil. U have every risk of getting a fake one. Buy only from authorized dealerships

Wtf is wrong with people here. I bought shell 5-30 and now i feel it wasnt genuine. Too thick to be 5-30 and performance has decreased. Now i am lookIng for a place for genuine oil
