Ahsan had around 2000 archie comics but sold 1500 of them to fund a new phone.....he didn't tell me before selling otherwise I would have stopped him. He still has over 500.

Dear General i am a student and a patriot.I may not have the courage to fight for my country but still up to the my strength i would defend my country's history. It was very heart breaking to see the pictures of the cars owned by great leaders. The point of writing this message to you is that these cars have been neglected in every govt's term of office. I have heard that i you want to destroy a nation destroy thier history. Restoration of these cars are alomost equal saving our country. This time its no war on a plain but a challenge for ur govt. I am myself not rich enough to carry out the restoration or would have offered my services. It is expected from the present government that full restoration of the cars will be carried out.I know my vote in this election are not neede by ur govet but you can count me in as voter who will support your party if a serious consideration is given to this matter. If something is really going to be planned regarding the restoration i would love to hear it on telephone or my email.

Fatima Jinah Cars case is nearing it's end as paper work is in progress for handing over the cars for retoration. If you really want to write to the President, then let me tell you all that there is a Mercedes 600 Pullman Limousine rotting away in or around the Presidency. We need to tell the President that the current German Chancellor still uses a similar car for all offical engagements. Why can't our President use a classic Mercedes....it reflects well on our history and heritage. This car was perhaps gifted by Shah of Iran to the then PM ZAB.

Or maybe rather than rush into that, what if the club shows its commitment, to the goverment by working on the cars and doing them up and THEN going to the president. You know how our people work, they'll probabay say.."abhee aik kaa haan bol diya, abhee is ko kar lo phir dosree garee ka bhee deikh lein gey"

President is too pre-occupied with his u know what. Any publicity at this point in time could be harmful to our cause. We don't want opportunists to get a clue and spoil the whole thing for us. It has happened in the past. A Rolls Royce Phantom V Limousine owned by the Government of Pakistan was sold to a private guy who had was not a car enthusiast. He took that car out of Pakistan and sold it in UK. This happened about 10-12 years ago. Lets not let this happen again to this Mercedes. Lets keep mum and approach the right people at the right time from the right forum which is the VCCCP. We 'll get everyone involved once we have something in the pipeline.

Yes that 600 MB Pullman is a real trophy. As for our President riding in it, well that day is now long gone. The car is not bullet, bomb, missile or anything proof and the last thing I want to see is for that car to be blown up.

The German Chancellor is at minimal risk of an assasination attempt, as is King Abdullah of Jordan who still uses his late father's (King Hussein) '64 Lincoln Continental convertible for state occasions. It was also used for his wedding and coronation:

In addition to being armoured to the core, the MB Limo that is in use by the President now probably has such creature comforts within, that it would probably shadow the MB 600 in comparison. It would be good as a show car but to be kept in running condition.

@all. Another car worth saving is the brown Rolls Royce Silver Shadow in the Govt House garage. Gifted to Bhutto by the Saudis I believe. I last saw it in use 12-15 years ago, with Nusrat Bhutto on board.

Well remembered Romano. The brown Silver Shadow was a personal gift to Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto from King Khalid of Saudi Arabia. ZAB in his generous style returned the car to the govt and it was mainly used by Bequm Bhutto when he was PM. Romano you must have seen her during BB's stint as PM.

The MB 600 was not gifted by anyone but purchased by the Govt of Pakistan for use by the President.
By chance I was at Shahnawaz in Pindi servicing the Bentley when this car arrived in 1970. It was flown in from Karachi on an Air Force C 130 and was at Shahnawaz for final checks.
The Chief Service Manager of Shahnawaz, Mr Raees took me along for a test drive all the way to Wah and back. What a thrill it was a ride of a lifetime.
The first official function the President used the 600 was for the passing out parade at Kakul.
A lot of people have their eyes on this car including top Mercedes restoration firms from Germany and Australia.

The sad part about the Phantom was that it was a present from the Amir of Bahawalpur to the Govt of Pakistan. That car should not have been sold, rather returned to the present Amir. It resides in the US now along with the Amir's 500 K Mercedes.

I wish you had taken pictures of the MB 600 but I guess cameras were not so common then.

I wonder if there is any way to find out what cars did our successive governements order starting from 1947. Is there an Archives Dept. in Islamabad who might have this information. I also heard from someone that the Amir of Hunza had a Cord 810. @alvis any idea?
