Thee doors itself work like enclosures. Power handling increases when doors are completely deadened and sealed. As you have dynamat installed, no need to worry about enclosure. Just make sure that every corner of the door is damped and deadened with sealant and then you are good to go. And also don't forget the coupling of mid bass drivers.

I have definitely got the sealant action going in the doors. I have got the doors deadened for sure. But dont think it is dynamat as that was not available at the time but another companies Aurix or something. If he has it now I can get it done again with dynamat or let it ride for now........I didnt quite get coupling of mid bass drivers? Elucidate please.

Arsalan bhai that is an issue I have faced in the past........when the car gets serviced I open the doors and check and have found some moisture in the past..........I have given explicit instructions to the Honda people to be careful but it is what it is..........By the holes I assume you mean to drill some holes in the bottom of the door?

thanks bhai....,I tried to understand your comment ....Well the morel tempos have gotten good reviews generally ......so I can well imagine your friend must be enjoying them......for me the question is not high end or not....it is what sounds good .......and for me at the moment the Bostons are doing a fantabulous job ......which Is why I am hesitant........

but I am going to have some free time soon and before making a decision as I have been advised by many here and some of my friends abroad I will give the morels a try out before I decide to sell or not...........it just depends on what suits my ear.........the morels are drop dead gorgeous though.............

just listen to your morel but its real potential will unveil after break in period, Also; it depends up on your ears used to listen any particular signature thus you need to give time to get them adjusted with another kind of sonic signature. During my discussion with Israeli guy who was a dieheart fan of morel told me that Elate is a world of SQ with deep bass sound lovers and there are people those who are using elate mid with supremo tweets so you can also do the same in future if you want to... i dont know about the sonic signature of bostons if its energetic and thrilling like focal or pleasing warm and lush like morel but if you are satisfied with bostons than stick with it since there is nothing like your personal preference. however as you have access to visit USA on frequently basis than you may also experience other brands as well but again listening on speaker board and in car makes a massive difference but atleast u would manage to listen kind of sound according to you liking. i would again say to give these elates a proper listening time and decide which one you like and to go for... cheers

there are some drain holes already at the bottom of every car doo. they sometimes get choked due to dust

What you say makes sense. You get the fact that I enjoy the sound from the BA's and as well as getting used to them the cars cabin is a comfortable place to be in. The Bostons sound is indeed very warm, and lush as you say. It is not bright at all. That is what has been told to me that the MOrels would sound like. I have some friends abroad who use the elate mids as well as piccollo supremo tweets ........So I know what you mean. Its just that I need to be certain of the midbass punch in the morels. If it is solid then nothing like it for sure.

You see one has to be careful with the install guys as well. That they do a good job. These guys can ruin a good setup. If I was certain they would do it properly I would do it eyes closed when I have the time. ....But you know how they are.

I have heard that in order for the morels to sing they need their own amplifier, hence an active setup. This is something I look forward to doing sometime in the future as want to enjoy the system in stages. Otherwise how to appreciate the sound in different stages of the setup. Already it is mondo.

Well I believe the morels can work on a passive setup as well? So is it true that they require their own amp?

Two choices for the future. Dedicate my 150rms 4 channel Alpine F6 amp for the morels but that might be overkill.

Second option: The F6 Alpine amp to run the midbass and the rear speakers. And buying a 2 channel amp to run the tweets . Something that would run them smoothly.

Question: So is it really necessary to go active for the morels or can they work on a passive setup?
Going active is a bit of a lottery in the sense of mixing and matching amps and speakers.

Keep in mind this is hypothetical and is based on the premise of the morels needing an active setup. If they can work well on a passive setup than nothing like it.

My next query for later. Doing some research on it at the moment....

Own amp means one channel for each driver. Ur 2 way got 4 drivers so 4ch should be dedicated in an active setup. They sure can perform well in a passive setup but obviously to get the max potential of ur drivers active is the way to go. For now u can enjoy passive, when plan for active u can get another good 2ch for tweeters which doesn't need to b very powerful as tweeters need only 15W, so a 50w/ch amp will b sufficient.

Decoupling of speaker means isolation of driver from the baffle it is installed. As when the driver hits hard, the vibrations are transited to the baffle thus creates an opposite force for what driver is doing. Driver can be decoupled by using adhesives or foam ring on top of baffle so it can absorb the vibrations. Therefore by this method vibrations from the speaker body are less transferred to the doors.
You can use anything like foam, self adhesive vinyls or butayl rubber.

Any component can perform at its best in active configuration unlike passive. Passive cross overs are analog and are a compromise for cost and efficiency. Your morels or any other comps can really sing in active setup.

Because their cross over points will be digitally controlled,
Line level control and efficient frequency response.
The amp will receive only the signal which is the bandwidth of particular driver, hence the amp will use less power= less distortion,
Less phasing issues and better transition from mid bass to tweets.
One channel of amplifier per driver is required.
DSP (Which you have one)
Additional RCA's required,

Whereas Passives,

Amplifier power is wasted, full signal is fed to the amp, it amplifies it and then passive crossovers introduces the analog split for tweeters and mid bass drivers.
Phasing issues,
No ability to control the slopes or cross over points,
Coloration and loss of energy, electric interference in the passive circuit.

I am saying 4 channel because you never now you will opt for a 3 way active setup, so by that way you have two channels of amplification available for mid ranges

Tweets off a new amp (2 channels)

when I go to the shop to try out the morels I will definitely look into adding the foam or some sort of adhesive........as I am having slight issues with vibrations from the back.....more on that later in my other query......that is the only think I forgot to add on when I was testing the morels earlier and the installer had a brainfade......I have added spacers on the midbass and the rear fills but foam was forgotten.......in addition going to look into maybe taking out the aurix and adding dynamat if the guy has it if not will have to order it.........the only issue is that my car doors have been opened up roughly 8 times in the last 6 months so I feel things like clips near the door handle and the door generally are getting loose..........so anytime I open the doors up again I have to be damn sure that it is for good reason and worth it.....as well as not loosing the current sound.....hence the apprehension with the morels...but I think I might for for it sometime in the near future when I have the time for sure.....

sounds good .... i think it is better to plan for the future rather than regretting not buying it once and getting a 2 channel now and 4 later.......better maybe to go for a 4 channel now.........however that would mean again upgrading to three way speakers in the future as the morels are two way I believe.........in addition what amp would you recommend for that purpose when and If I went active?.......a few stage to go through before that

your post makes sense in a 2 way setup.........I would go for that....but reading your other posts youre right maybe a 4 channel would be the way to go .........but like our many convos as I mentioned for the future.........still i would like to know which amp to go for for that.........plus the installer would have to an expert to install 3 way........they have trouble installing even basic systems..............i have got a guy who considers himself above and beyond.......but the proof is in the pudding.......
