Finaly 5AFE Swapped in EE90

im now bit scared regarding my swap,you faced hell a lot of problem after swap and a bit happy that every thing had a solution....

open up the meter and see find the magnet switch screws, follow the screw to the out pin on the connector., If its missing, get a meter wala to install a VSS in it as is, its workable for sure.

Pindi or ISB market there are not many people who even kno what VSS is. In this casse i feel KHI got people who know a bit more I will try and find a meter wala who can do this job.

Last time I did try locate the pulse but failed as the place where it should be there is nothing.

I get check light if I push my car to 4k rpm or more for like 5 to 8 secs thats the only issue no performance issue though.

Now this depends I mean when i took my car from mechanic after swap it was working i could have keep it the way it is but I with help Xulfiqar and Farrukh tried to make everything work how it is suppose to work.

I was swapping a toyota engine in a toyota car that needed almost no alteration and the wiring I had it was soo good there is not even one sensor wire missing. The engine only gives VSS code no other means all sensors are hooked up properly and working now you will not have this in 95% swaps.

VSS is vehicle speed sensor. The pulse from the VSS is important for ECU in some cases your car will not even rev very high due to no VSS hooked up.

In my case if I push my car around 4 RPM for around 8 Secs it gives check engine light for VSS.

Okay.Thanks for the info.And where is the VSS installed in 5A-FE?And from where the speedometer gets speed info?And also does VSS only have to do something with RPM?And does your vehicle speed show up normally or not?

I am using analog meter that runs by a wire that spins and meter runs but latest cars uses electric signal for this so 5AFE also got that electric VSS installed but we changed it to manual one so my old meter can run.

In this old manual meter there is also option of VSS it can also give pulse needed for ECU just need to locate that in this meter.

I am having no issues other than Check Engine light that turns on as soon as i push the engine for longer periods of time.

And what was the actual price of 5A-FE with wiring etc?Did you get it from Rawalpindi Chah Sultan?And from whom?

It was for 65k when i bought it 4 months ago now its around 75k. I gave my old engine and got it for 40k including swap and all. My old engine was in good condition so got a nice deal.

Bought it from Mithu Khan sadar RWP from Asghar Khan.

Okay.Can you post his contact number and also who did the swap?I mean the mechanic?And for 5A-FE they say that just inspect it and take it and that starting is not done when buying rather once its installed in car then its checked.Is that true?Cause for starting it without installation they need to arrange wiring and attach ecu.

Mechanic aranged by him hmm level of work he did was just ok in the end i had to get things fixed by my mechanic. But my mechanic was asking for around 5000 Rs for swap so I asked asghar khan to arrange mechanic. In the 40k everything is included.

Well yes they willl not start the engine but they will give you one month warranty of oil decreasing or blow. You can also open up the tapped cover to see the engine condition.

@ vaqas as for the engine check light problem is concerned, i had the same problem when i swapped 7AFE which was later fixed by a electrition by the name of BILAL from mitho khan ka ahata so get it checked from him

Azi I know whats the problem I just need time to fix it. BTW i went to Sargodha exhaust guy for exhaust. He gave me quote of 6800Rs for complete exhaust..

find a meter wala that fixes digital taxi meters, they know what a VSS is and usually have some units that you can install inbetween cables, OR

simply go to the junk market and look for a VSS that can screw onto the cable connection of the gearbox, some older JDM coures had it,

I Overcome this issue As BT Prone To Through VSS CEL Immediately As You Drive It....By fixing a VSS Pulse Generator From AE100 Meter To My 86 Meter.....!!
There A Lil Circuit Like Thing Which Generates Pulse And Feed ECU.....!!!
A Person With Just Little Knowledge Can Do It.......Or DIY It.....Get A Broken AE100 Or Similar Meter From JUNK..Make Sure It Have That Thing And Swap It Simply.....!!

the BT will not increase redline or work its VVT unless the VSS gets signal - what you mention is the absolute correct way, as it needs a square wave pulse, the magnetic VSS makes for a noisy pulse - but works in older Toyotas
