There is a certain look that you invariably get from 40s fans and builders, when you ask then to do a non-stock alteration/modification to the vehicle... and the usual response invariably is "lets just stick to the original!". This applies to things like adding a fancy dashboard to making any TLC Icon inspired body mods. As opposed to that take a Jeep to the same man and ask for something obsurd and he will gladly work with you to make it practical and doable and slap the stuff on there.
I understand and sympathize with the whole concept behind that look which is summarized in the statement "the CJ can be made to look good and work well with mods, while any mods to the FJ essentially mess up the aesthetics and the outlook of teh vehicle". I believe this feeling is essentially shared by many users on FJ/Toyota forums universally......except in Brazil where they do to their FJ40's known as Bandierantes, what we do to our Jeeps here in Pakistan.
