I sometimes take one project car at a time from classic car owners where I feel that the car is important enough to deserve time and effort. This is not a money making venture as full time restoration time span varies from 6 months to a year - restoring cars is not yet a feasable business in Pakistan as people generally fail to comprehend the time and effort it requires to restore a car in a very unfriendly and inappropriate environment i.e. electricity breakdowns, people coming to work late, delays are norm of the day, chacha margaya, philana bimar ho gaya etc. The traffic chaos, no parking available in Plaza area, poor workmanship by supposedly skilled craftsmen, only one parts shop catering to classic cars, his attitude, prices and last but not the least keeping workers motivated despite paying them 3 times to what they get paid for Japanese cars as it is not feasable for them either to work on classic cars in Pakistan.
I took this project because the owner Mr. Feroze is a fantastic human being and his family has owned this car for 83 years.....the car was given to a reputed mechanic for mechanical overhaul and the owner was not satisfied by his work and didnt want to continue with the other work. He took the car to Honda Site Workshop who quoted him 650,000 for denting and painting only and that too not body off. I agreed to take the project as I felt that the 70 + owner wants to hand ot over to his son. I have tried my best to justice to the car and work which started end of 2009 is nearing completion....here are a series of pics.
