Toro Rosso to race old car in Turkey

Scuderia Toro Rosso are to stick with their old car for at least one more race, autosport.com has learned, with a lack of spare parts forcing them to abandon plans to introduce their new STR3 at this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix.

The Faenza-based outfit had been scheduled to run their definitive 2008 contender at Istanbul for the first time, having used a modified version of last year's STR2 in the first few races of the season.

I feel sorry for super aguri... they didnt really leave a mark nor did they have a memorable or race but its always a little sad to see a team go down the way they did... a seemingly slow death watching the anvil dropping slowly. A bit melodramatic i know but at least they went down fighting.
Can Super Aguri still sell its F1 license or whatever that thing is that costs 40 million or so pounds and permits a team to race in F1? I'm just a little surprised that no Russian billionaire or another Indian businessman for that matter didnt decide to buy themselves a new pass time.

Very true. I`d ve expected a russian to walk in and give it a go. Someone inform Roman Abramovich! He was widely rumoured to be interested in buying an F1 team a few years back.

FIA confirms qualifying changes

The FIA has confirmed that five cars will be excluded from the first two sessions of qualifying in the wake of Super Aguri's withdrawal from Formula One.

The sporting regulations for 2008 were originally written based around an entry of 24 cars, where seven cars were to be excluded from Q1 and Q2 to leave 10 cars in the final session.

Although there was a proviso written should the entry drop to 22 cars, with six cars being dropped from each session, there was nothing official for a scenario where there were only 20 cars.

i think the previous f1 game was pretty awesome..the f1 championship eidtion was v.realistic..but the downstide abt the game was that it was just relased on ps3 by sony!

yeah it was Sony which eveyr body was hoping to get rid of ... no support for PC gaming .. we are playing F1 Challenge 2002 with edited Mods for long. Brilliant online experience, so I hope codemasters lives up to the expectation.

Looks like massa was able to deal with turn 8 once again... its supposed to be equivalent to 25kg of pressure on the neck... bloody hell.

I find it difficult to imagine a podium without two reds there unless one of the two spins out or crashes or something drastic... but I have to say Hamilton surprised me with his pace... but i dont think it was because of the strategy mclaren employed... frankly i thought they would have been better off with a two stopper...

congrats to the prancing horse fans... i'm one of them...

Congratulations to all Ferrari fans. Am so happy to see that sour faced ape Ron Dennis and his team struggling to get a win. Their only win so far was when both Ferrari drivers retired from the race.

I think the low track temp was the key to Mclaren performing so well who made their tires work better than Ferrari in those conditions. Luckily for us we are moving into the European summer so there shouldnt be many cold days : -)

McLaren say Kovalainen could have won

McLaren F1 CEO Martin Whitmarsh believes Heikki Kovalainen could have scored his maiden grand prix victory at today's Turkish Grand Prix.

Kovalainen, returning to action this weekend following his heavy crash at the Spanish Grand Prix, had qualified on the front row for the first time, outpacing teammate Lewis Hamilton despite carrying a heavier fuel load.

Fastest lap times: Kimi surprises

Kimi Raikkonen managed to clock the fastest lap time at the Turkish Grand Prix on Sunday despite a difficult race weekend.

The Finn, who finished in third place, suffered a gearbox problem during practice on Friday and then failed to hit the right notes during qualifying on Saturday.

we have to give credit to kimi for his effort after the third pitstop of hamilton because his efforts distract hamilton from focusing on massa otherwise at one time it looks like massa is loosing its position to hamilton.
