Renault to stay in F1 'for many years'

Renault's chief executive Carlos Ghosn says the French manufacturer is planning to stay in Formula One for many years despite their slump in form.

"Abandon as losers? Never. In any case we'll stay in F1 for many years," Ghosn was quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport.

The French outfit were champions in 2005 and 2006 but endured a poor 2007 season.

Bridgestone rejects tyre warmer ban delay

Formula One's official tyre supplier Bridgestone is to reject a bid by teams to delay the introduction of a ban in tyre warmers until 2010.

Concerns from drivers about the speed differential between cold and warm slick tyres have prompted safety concerns about the dangers of not using tyre blankets from the start of next year

Mosley wins confidence vote in Paris

FIA president Max Mosley has won the vote of confidence at today's General Assembly meeting in Paris.

Following a vote of delegates, Mosley won the majority of support for him to continue in his role.

An FIA press release confirmed that Mosley had won by 103 votes to 55 votes in the meeting. There were seven abstentions and four invalid votes during the secret ballot.

As for the Raikkonen bit, these Finns are weird to say the least. Look what Mika Hakkinen did. I would be sad to see him quit early because unlike Martin Brundle I dont think there are three top drivers in F1. I believe there are only TWO, and if one leaves it would pave the way for total domination of the sport by the other one.Talking of that other one, I read somewhere once that "Never believe anything until it’s officially denied.” And he`s done just that.

Alonso keeping future options open

Former world champion Fernando Alonso says he is open about his future plans in Formula One after admitting he is undecided about where he will race next year.

Quite a few well reputed sites have been reporting for sometime now that he( Alonso) is Ferrari bound for 2010. I`d say if he stays at Renault for 2009 that would be a dead give away irrespective of Raikkonen staying on or retiring.

yeah i know what you're saying... when i read that article and then alonso's reaction to the whole thing i just rolled my eyes and thought yep... its schumi's retirement all over again... that's why i was really excited when bmw actually began performing at the beginning of the season and indeed continue to make strides in their performances. Now there is yet another seat for these top drivers to head towards. I mean yeah Ferrari is the zenith one would want to be at but if there is an option, and if its not mclaren, i wouldnt mind seeing a non-mclaren driver give ferrari a run for their money. Ever since Williams became a back bencher i have been wanting a third team to step up. I just hope it doesnt end up being a cycle like renault... three years good... seven bad... two good and so on...

and what is up with these ferrari drivers saying that they will never race for another team if they leave ferrari... i can understand ferrari is from the land of the god father but i did not realize they enforced the code too...

it is not the code but a personal satisfaction for all those who drive for ferrari. We all know all the drivers who have drive for ferrari never had any problem with ferrari as a team because ferrari management give them respect which they deserve. as for other teams we have seen problems occurs during the season hust for example what has happen last year in mclaren they lost the title because of those problems.
well on the other hand i think i am spoken too early because as far as this year is concern if the title goes till the last race it will suggest the ferrari attitde about their drivers whether they favours or not. and thats why i am saying this season could prove many things whether they are true or not.

Lewis and Rosberg get grid penalties

Lewis Hamilton will be demoted ten places down the French Grand Prix grid as a punishment for causing the pit lane crash in today's race at Montreal.

Nico Rosberg will receive the same penalty for his involvement in the incident, as the stewards deemed that both had breached article 16.1 of the regulations by 'causing a collision'.

Had to share this with you guys. Having watched their "hero" smash into the back of Ferrari in a mistake that will stand out for many years this is how James Allen the ITV commentator came to his ( Hamilton`s) defense.

Ron Dennis confirmed to me that the team told Lewis to watch out for the pit lane exit light being red, but his mind was on the fact that a slow stop had meant both Raikkonen and Kubica had got in front of him and he was set to rejoin third.

He was focused on the flow of cars moving towards the exit and didn’t see that Kimi had stopped. He missed Kubica by inches, but – luckily for him – hit his main title rival, who could not score any points as a result.
For this he has been given a 10-place grid relegation at the next race, as has Nico Rosberg.

This is interesting in light of Raikkonen’s collision with Adrian Sutil in Monaco, which cost the German five points, but did not attract a 10-place grid drop for Kimi here in Canada… Figure that one out.

Fastest lap times: Consolation for Kimi

Kimi Raikkonen managed to claim the fastest lap in Canada before his race was cruelly ended by Lewis Hamilton.

In fact, Raikkonen and Hamilton were by far the two quickest men around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve before the McLaren smashed into the Ferrari in the pit lane.

The Finn recorded his fastest time of 1:17.387 on lap 14, he was forced to retire three laps later when Hamilton crashed into him while they were waiting for the pit lane light to change.

what i have expected is just happen well i certainly not expected this much early but why they penalise rosberg because he was also stopped before. and he was also on the victim side not the one who has started it. What about nelson mistake which could take out massa after he slipped and then tried to get back on track and narrowly missed massa.

I agree with your expletives... i missed the race and just saw the replay... WTF was that?! And how matter of factly he took the whole thing pissed me off to no ends... did anyone watch him talk to the press when he walked towards the stewards offices after the race?
You know what... every time i speak to a non-schumi fan they throw the incident between schumi and D. Hill in my face... I am gonna throw this in the hamilton fans faces... it was almost like he was choosing which of the two to take out... here is what kubica said: "I have to thank him that he shunts Kimi and not me."

They said he had his eye on the red light and not on the cars... would the red light alone not tell a guy to stop... I dont know... I agree with what Kimi said afterwards...

“If I am going 300km an hour and lose control and hit somebody it is natural. But if I do it in a pit-lane, with a speed limit, with two cars stopped, and you hit them it is stupid.

i just mixed up both kubica and rosberg thatswhy I said what I think in he last post. Well after 10 grid penalty I think hamilton should learn something if he has to gain some respect otherwise he is going to end up just another brit brat. I now started to give Kimi more respect then before because of the reaction he give after that incident.

I agree with you on kimi man... that guy does have ice in his veins... I was surprised he didn't pull a schumacher on him (schumi and coulthard pitt lane incident)... and even in his press conference afterwards he was chilled... granted one of the reasons was the fact that he had been in a rear end collision in the previous grand prix too but as he said he was going at 300 km/h and this incident was in the pitt lane...
