JV interested in NASCAR switch

Jacques Villeneuve says he would consider a move to the American NASCAR series if he is unable to secure a Formula 1 drive for 2007.
The 1997 world champion’s contract with BMW Sauber runs out at the end of this year and he has yet to be offered a renewal.

Bridgestone to be sole tyre supplier

Formula One racing’s governing body, the FIA, has announced that tyre manufacturer Bridgestone has been selected as the official tyre supplier to the FIA Formula One World Championship in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

The FIA decided in May to select a single tyre manufacturer which would supply all Formula One teams from 2008. A tender process was opened and the deadline for bids was June 23 2006.

]will turn his back on [b]Formula 1 at the end of this season and switch to America’s NASCAR series.

The McLaren driver will reunite with Chip Ganassi Racing, with whom he achieved spectacular success on his last stint racing in the USA, winning the 1999 Champ Car title and the 2000 Indianapolis 500.

The shock news was announced by Montoya and Ganassi in a press conference at the Chicagoland NASCAR event on Sunday morning.

shocking, indeed. I just saw that on sports centre. In a way the move is shocking though justifiied as well. He hasnt been able to deliver since his switch over to mclaren.

JV has been performing well this season. He has out performed hiis team mate a number of times. I dont think he will miss F1 next year.

alonso will surely move to mclaren but still no conformation about kimi

i dont think he has signed a contarct with ferrari yest

i think schumi will continue for another year and massa will be his team mate

the speculation for valantino rossi has ened of joining ferrari f1 an he has decidded to stick to 2 wheelers for now

the most likely would be kimi joins renault

and one more thing i doubt mclaren will be able to challenege feerari or renault next season so if kimi moves to renault we might see him winneing his 1st championship

I hope Kimi's bad luck ends soon, because time is passing by, and another year will be gone and no championship. He is the best driver in F1 today.

HAS LEFT FORMULA1 WITHE AN EARLY EXIT

McLaren announced on Tuesday morning that the Colombian will step down from his race seat with immediate effect.

The team issued a statement saying that test driver Pedro de la Rosa will take Montoya’s place alongside Kimi Raikkonen starting with this weekend’s French Grand Prix.

Qualifying tweak confirmed

The top-10 qualifying shootout will be cut by five minutes from this weekend’s French Grand Prix.

the final part of qualifying will be trimmed from 20 to 15 minutes,

Drivers are also no longer alllowed to serve driver-thru-penalties during safety car periods.

Robert Kubica completed a perfect day for himself and BMW by outpacing world champion Fernando Alonso on Renault’s home track at Magny-Cours to remain fastest throughout Friday’s free practice sessions.

World champion Fernando Alonso was hugely satisfied with his Friday practice at Magny-Cours after an ominous Renault performance in the afternoon session.

Jenson Button said his Friday at Magny-Cours wasn’t as productive as he had hoped due to problems with tyre graining.

Ralf Schumacher says Toyota’s chances of having a strong weekend in France seem “very promising” after only Renault and Ferrari outpaced them in second practice.

Rubens Barrichello completed only five laps of practice at Magny-Cours on Friday after crashing 20 minutes into the afternoon session.

well its gonna be a fun race with schumi on top.
pit stratigy will be crucial.

I cant wait for tomorrow's race. I never thought that Ferrari will be this much stronger than Renault. Schumi has got Massa b/w himself and Alonso so it is gonna be a huge benifit for him, provided that the order remains the same for sometime in the race.
