if the cap is scatched up - its junk, get a new cap and rotor arm, make sure to get genuine parts or at least OEM parts. I think the brand is Yamaguchi something something parts that come in a blue box.

never try to sandpaper the contacts or rotor arm or centre carbon button. The item immediately turns to scrap as it can cause current leaks.

You arent supposed to, I only rubbed the points in my cap to see any immediate improvement, it did get better so im gonna get a new cap. Btw credit goes to @syncview for guiding me on the phone, he motivated me to mess with it, im feeling more confident already

Now I feel that some yahoo either removed my t stat valve when the radiator was changed or it is stuck open

the centrifugal and the vaccum advance are the real things to test,clean and lubricate in an electronic distributor

yes i am going to get to them too eventually, i just don't have grease and tools at hand right now.

Edit: the fuel level is low and the car now feels abit rougher. I might get the tank cleaned.

the black carbon buildup on the centre of the rotor helps in current transfer, the white crusty stuff on the electrode towers can be scraped off carefully with any tool (spatula etc) - dont nick the plastic in any condition.

the rotor arm is a press fit on the shaft, the shaft itself is actually held by springs onto the main drive stub of the distributor and is held down by a screw, it should not move in any direction.

the rotor is just a plain slap on part.

Btw the last time I visited magic motors I specially asked the owner if the head bolts on my engine require replacement, he had some data book and according to that they are reusable, @xulfiqar, can you please confrim

And another question is that I removed the ht cable from the coil. There were white ash like deposits where the wire plugs in, is it normal and can I clean it?

head bolts can be reused.....we reused them in three engine while overhauling them.
white ash like deposits should not be there...and you can clean them
are you using genuine plug wires???if yes then do a resistance test

The genuine wires somehow got some of their insulation stripped, we changed them, but the replacement wires started giving jerks. So I covered the original wires with nitto tape and reinstalled, but the wire that connects coil to distributor was beyond repair and we got a kabuli one for that.

There is no arcing, I will test the wires tomorrow

This is what the deposits look like, I also want to check its resistance, where do I attach the multimeter probes for that?

Coil tower terminal got oxidized due moisture,clean it with the help of small screw driver by scrubbing,after cleaning apply petroleum jelly and insert ignition cable into it.

Is there any other option apart from petroleum jelly? This would be a firehazard imo
