Gas to Diesel Engine Swap

Want to do a Gas to Diesel swap , which engine should I put in and what else needs to be changed ?

NOOOO dont do that pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez you have such a nice vehicle with such a nice engine. You can put cng kit if you are looking for economy. Are you interested in selling it?

hi buddy !first of all i must appriciate ur decision and secondly i will advise u to put 1KZ engine,toyota engine avoid puting turbo charged engine if u are a casual type and if u can afford to have personal periodic checks on maintainence then go for turbo Remember the advice "gentle on the padel and steady on the gears and she will last foreever".a petrol engine is a ?for performance in heavy duty 4X4 bet me i have tested it from 1 litre to 10litre daimler 6X6 off roaders there r more plus with diesel CNG is power mans dream fittedin top of the line suzuki 800cc MEHRAN (FERRARI ENZO) bye and good luck

get a multivalve(24 valve) 6 cylinder diesel turbo engine.

your best bet is to go for same engine & transmission which came in diesel models of similar land cruiser together with ECU and all other electronics. This may cost you more upfront but think on the positive side. Less headache, easy conversion process, easy to trouble shoot OEM geniunity and driving pleasure of the vehicle.

I think Prado has the same I6-3.0 engine and swapping a modern engine + transmission form later year will prove beneficial .

Nothing wrong with turbo diesel engines. Actually turbo is more reliable on diesel engines providing your fuel system is working fine.

The 2L, 2.4 litre 4 cylinder

The 2L-T ,2.4 litre 4 cylinder turbo and was used in Surfs.

The 3L, 2.8 litre 4 cylinder. Hiace ZR vans

The 5L and 5LE are 3.0 litre 4 cylinder engines, the 5LE is computer controlled. These replaced the 3L in the Aus. spec Hiluxes.

The 1KZ-TE is found in Hilux SR5s up to 2004 and is a turbo 4 cylinder computer controlled diesel.

Experts, am I right with the above info???

Go for other LC's Diesel Engine its easy to Maintain as Parts available n also matches Spects more easily. Whts ur Current average on Petrol.

brother like someone already mentioned dont go for alterations an put in a cng kit.

6 cylinder diesel came stock in this LC. I think the code is 1HD. It will be an easy fit and works great. Nothing like a diesel especialy in suv's. Diesel rules.

id cng it personally. i think the conversion may be complicated with the 4wd hardware and youll need to change the transmission and god knows wat else. plus its a nice looking 4x4 by the time the mechanics finish with it itll not b so nice---oil on interior trim---electrical probs etc----conversions can come out good but its always a lil bit of a gamble......not a problem if u have an unlimited budget and time though. so ur call

all u got to do is use it on cng thill the engine gives up and than put the natural 6 valve 4200cc engine which came with the original model...u can get plenty of these engines in istabal pindi or sadar ...put if i were u i wud use to on cng for normal rum arounds and when ever 4x4 needed would use it on petrol...plain and simple..less alterations less headache...

Brother first of all ur cruiser is a LHD and than u wanna swap ur engine...my advice is get a good contact in Miraan Shah and swap the whole vehicle including the engine....and if u just wanna swap the engine than go for the original diesel, i mean 24 valve 4.2 diesel turbo...by the way where are u located in pakistan bcause i can see some american cars in the background of the second pic... the engine in ur vehicle is 1FZ-FE(gasoline) and what u should get is 1HD-T(Diesel) or 1HD-FTE (Diesel).

i think this jeep TLC is not in Pakistan.......so how he can manage all this swap project (highly expensive)..........better thing is not to do it.......enjoy petrol power

Dear All,
The guy wants to covert from GAS to DIESEL.
Pl note that GAS is in fact GASOLINE which is PETROL.
Really amazed we r so much in CNG that with GAS it is always CNG in our mind.
GAS Can be any thing i.e. methane, propane, hydrogen, oxygen etc.
AH AH AH
