Generator Engine Overhauling & ATS Dedicated Thread ( Advice , DIY, Repair ,Install)

dear all
i had a thought can any body comment on it, how about making your own 5 kva generator.
this is the estimate which i took from shop in saddar karachi,

engine block (JD) Rs 3500
head 2700
other parts (cam shaft, connecting rod etc) Rs 15000 to 20000
rotor and field Rs 20000

whereas 5kva generator of good brand is around Rs 100,000.

the only thing i am not getting is 5 kva chassis with fuel tank and nut bolts to fix all the stuff.

can anybody comment on it, is it feasible to make one or it would be just a thought.

Missing parts are self starter, ignition coil, charging coil, wiring harness, circuit breaker, power outlets, oil switch, fuel tank, chassis,frame, engine foundations, kick starter, governer lever, carburetor, exhaust muffler, exhaust manifold, choke breaker plate with lever, carbon brushes, battery, and etc. If you are interested for a 5 KVA, I have a Chinese one for sale, working and in good condition and will be lot cheaper.

Can anyone tell me what is piston bore My mechanic told me something like this i don't have much info regarding this but he told me if you want to overhauled your engine so you must bore you piston but in this thread nobody discussed this thing. please let me know is this mandatory or not

the cylinder where piston moves is its bore, when you overhaul an engine with a new bigger size piston it won't fit in the cylinder because of its larger dia so the dia of the cylinder is increased by lathe guy called boring. and subsequently all parts to match for that piston has to be replaced.

I use to to top up Gen Engine oil because gen shuts down due to low oil level and it was quite a tiring job because i had to go 2 floors up and back again and usually it happened in the middle of my sleeping hours
So I made a circuit to Top up Oil.
Now when ever my Gen Oil gets low it automatically shuts down the Gen then oil solenoid activates and fills up the Oil from the reserve tank to the required level. then Gen restarts. This whole process takes less than 3 mins approx.

Now its in testing phase but working great Ma Sha Allah

I have a denyo 25 Kva diesel unit. The dynamo has given away after more than 5000 hours of service. The authorized dealers is asking 4,00,000 for a replacement dynamo, excluding the transportation and labour charges. That too from singapore, not original Japan. Any Suggestions ?

@moizirfan i have a sketch in my mind of a system for auto oil change what do you think should it be given a shot ? i have very simple system in mind witch will use a timer 2 solenoids , 1 oil reserve tank and 1 tank for oil drain what do you think about it

How much LPG would a 6200watt chinese generator approx. Consume in one hour?
And what is needed to run a generator on CNG, any kits, emulators etc.?

yes give it a try.

my circuit triggers from oil sensor wire which when low oil level activates two relays.
one relay shuts the generator, other one disconnects the negative signal wire of ats.
meanwhile dual timer is always on which activates the solenoid for a specified time interval.
the timer gets ON signal from relay used earlier for shutting down to top up oil for a required time interval.

let me sketch it. i have made it using one 555ic dual timer circuit which we use for self solenoid in ATS and two relays. one solenoid and reserve tank
