Generator Engine Overhauling & ATS Dedicated Thread ( Advice , DIY, Repair ,Install)

Plz sujjest me that can i run 3 lahori cooler ( watr cooler ) on that 3000 watts gen set, and what is the load of one cooler.

Also sujjest me a good brand of engine( should be fuel ecnomical ) for my 1.5 ton ac + home load.

its not more than 200watts , you can run many lahore cooler with 3kw generator ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

currently i haven't installed the choke motor,its running only on gas.
i have done exactly that you have told but its starts easily on cold but doesn't get stable. will try to adjust the t valve again

sir you didnt tell me about best mobil-oil for my generator....
and after many hours should i change it?

i use havolin 20w 50 in my generator ,,,,,,,,,,,,after 3 year of running i see very minimum wear in its engine,,,,,,,,,,,,,,up to my experence its best suited acording to the temp and punishing working condition when we run it on NG ,,,,,,,,,,,,also adjust the tappets 0.10 intake and 0.15 exhaust ,,,,,,,,the manual say it must be 0.05 and 0.08 but dont follow the manual ,,,,,,,,,,,manul is for original honda and we are dealing with chinese clone generators and using Ng as fuel,,,,,,,,,,,

thats nice , is this a 6 KW geneator or 2.5 Kw , ,,,,,,,,,,,it seems its a 2.5 Kw but there is 15 Hp written on recoil starter ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,fit that change over relay inside the pannel box , it will look even batter there

yes sir it is 6Kw gen set.......

sir this relay have a cover on it..so it is safe out there and to fit it in panel box i had to cut a space in the cover of panel box...

and about securing wires...thanks for the suggestion i will surely add shims..
i tried to find strong thimbles but couldn't find them.

i suggest you to use 20w 50 havolin

i have adjusted the choke at the point where generator starts easily. then i adjusted the T valve. now its working.but lets see for how long i am sure after one week i have to re adjust the t valve as it will becomes unstable don't know why?

i change the oil after 100 hours,,,,,,,,,,but you have to check the oil level after 50 hours and if it drops oil then add some oil in it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but i guess your generator wont drop the oil level as i mentioned before that oil leaks from the breather pipe ,,,,,,,,,,,,,the engine which is fitted in your generator wont do that as its tappet cover is different from others,,,,,,,,,,,,

few hours ago i changed its first oil...and this time i used shell HELIX HX-3 20W-50..

i bought its packing of 3liters..after using this im going to use havolin 20-50 forever INSHALLAH...
actually i asked the shop owner(from where i bought generator) about havolin oil and his remarkd were
"yar vo pehlay he laal rang ka hota ha is liay bohat jaldi kala ho jata ha us say engine kuch mahino k baad he weak ho jaay ga vo kabi mt use karna is ma"
they dont know $hit about any thing....i will surely use havolin coz i have live example of your SWAN gen set in front of my eyes...

i myself changed from chinese one to DENSO... in my loncin 2.5kva and in my yamaha aswell..
also adjust its gap at 0.4...with feeler gauge ,if you dont have a feeler gauge ask any local mechanic to adjust it for u also see the pictures of spark plug adjusted at 0.4.. so u may have rough idea..

helo guys , this is my second thread on PW before this i rebuilt cultus and i hope many of you guys have seen that thread , so here i am overhauling my 2500 Watt chinese honda clone generator which is serving in my home for last more than 3 years , it run all his life on natural gas and with ATS , means it kicks in even when we dont need it especially at night and thats the reason why it has such a high reading on its hour meter ,,,,,,,,more than 2500 hours , and now there is nothing left in it , as you know summer is approaching and so does the heavy load shading which some time goes to 10 hours a day in rwp , so its time to rebuilt it other wise it will creat lot of trouble in peak summer/load shading season , also try to show you how to instal a natural gas kit after certain modication in gas kit so that it the engine always starts on half crank on natural/sui gas ,,,,,,,,,,and if posible also try my best to share the ATS circuit , i made that on my own but honestelly speaking i hardelly remember any thing as its almost 3 year old , will try to copy that , that ATS is installed on generator in parts , so i plan to remove all the components and put them in one box of stabilizer so that it looks good and also it will be easy to shift that ATS on some other generator , as i have a plan to buy a bigger generator and shift that ATS on it , right now its hard to remove that ATS as it is splitted in 4 parts , any how will share that later ,

any suggestion/comments are most welcome ,
