Well to be honest it's very easy to downshift in automatic transmission. You apply brakes slightly and drop the gear from D to 2 and two without any throttle, would take it to 60-70, and then as decent and law abiding citizen you can use L gear with no feet on throttle and slowly it will take it below 40. So this is not a relaxation for anyone, if the rule is of 40Kph we should follow it.

Now coming downhill from babusar top in low gears literally takes the car to 60-80kph without throttle, but mostly people press the brakes throughout resulting in brake overheat. So you apply it lightly, steer on corners and you stay in control. No camera is there but anyone going above 30kph will die off the cliff so what we will do we won't drop the gears and go directly in to the ravine?

So try following the rules or pay the fine if you can't. It's simple.

Maintaining a speed of 40 on downhill is very easy on Kallar Kahar segment, its gradient is around 10% and doesnt really need brakes in Low gear.

Its a dangerous segment and many idiots dont understand simple physics and end up in tragedies.
Speed limit is in place for safety.

120kmph is actually on the higher side and is a higher speed limit than many countries for example the US where the usual interstate speed limit is 70mph (~110kmph) and we all know the kind of cars they drive.

Haha no it was reality just to clear the logic. I have driven m18a, QG18de, 2nzfe many times descent from babusar top. so just shared, that if we let it roll on wider downslopes in top most area, the rpm jumps to 4-5000 on autos in low gear. Whereas Corrolla 2012 in first gear was way in control.

And jeeps have full maximum control. Just drop them in L4 hub lock and you can enjoy 2nd and third gear without even touching the brakes.

Last time I was driving my Bj40 downhill from babusar top to chillas, the police stopped me, checked the brakes and gave me a thumbs up. All thanks to Toyota 2B

If you read through the OP, I have mentioned that the 40kmph seems too low for LTV for such a vehicle and never justified overspeeding. So, the slave mentality instead of looking at and understanding the point of the discussion, starts lecturing on obeying and being slave every time instead of a genuine discussion if it is really low or should be okey.

I have been there, so the trick is, for an auto transmission, you don't keep the brake padel pressed while driving down hill. You apply slightly harsh brakes in intervals. The aggressive braking slows down your car a little bit more, as you drive down the slope you can lift your foot from pedal for a moment to give your brakes a bit of rest as your car is a bit more slower because of prvious stronger braking. So these intervals are what that give your brakes a respite and cushion for breathing. When the police checked my brakes downhill, they were surprised for a bit too. The point here is keeping the brakes continuously pressed even slightly, keeps heating them continuously without rest.

Your subpar understanding of physics, slopes and law doesnt mean others are talking non sense. That section has seen a lot of accidents therefore MP is extra cautious while setting speed limits on that segment and are extra vigilant. How hard is it to understand?

As par you Law is Law but someone from collection team told me that we don't fine anyone driving at 60, if 40 is the law(which it is not rather it's a regulation. Technically speed limit is a regulation/rule and not a law. This is something you also need to work one that law, regulation/rules are two different things.) So how would you explain this from your point? Why don't they uphold the law on all of the violaters?

While enforcing traffic rules alot depends on the discretion of the officer. Happens all over the world.
Some might not bother, other will give a mere warning while some might take you straight to jail. So your point is?

Your main argument was about 40kmph being too slow a speed for cars leading to excessive use of brakes whereas 'Physics' explained that the gradient is hardly 10% so using low gears will require very little use of brakes. Also the segment is roughly 10kms so there is no possibility of over heating your brakes unless youre overloading or are in high gear.

Sorry my bad, I thought a 1/1.5 or a 2 ton car can roll down to 100 in seconds if not controled properly.

60 to 20 in milli seconds is 67% Even if you stand on the brakes bring it to 20, the motion force will jump it back to 55 km/h in seconds.

Although i am not as good of a driver as you are, But i have had the experience to drive a Toyota Prado from babusar to Chillas where police men stop you to cool down brakes.

Some Allah ka banda told me about L4 gear when coming back from eagles nest to karimabad Bazar, Only God knows how i managed to keep that Prado under controlled speeds.

If it wasnt for the L4 gear i wouldnt drive it back down from Eagles nest to karimabad.

Slopes decening from Murree Express way interchange (bhurban, Nathiagali, PC) are enough to take the car beyond 100km/h in seconds.

Kalakahar part is a different story. Every time i drive there i envy cars going ahead of me, And feel pitty for the busses being taken by the police escort.

God willing, The Prados brakes gave up on descend from thandiyani to Nathiagali, the booster lost all presure and had to slow the car with the hand brake later shifted it to L4 again to drag the car till our final stop.

A few years ago I bought after market disk pads of Asuki for my Grande. The shopkeeper told me the similar kind of brakepads are used on revo as well. I wonder if sedans have better braking because the brake pads size is a bit better interms of their size/weight. Although the bigger vehicles should have comparatively bigger surface area between discs and pads. Again I am no mechanic and it's my guess. I agree with your point regarding quick acceleration from certain slopes and engine braking also becomes ineffective. Other factors vary from car to car and even for the same vehicle the tyres condition and condition of brakepads.
