is it safe to use 5w30 oil at motorway high speeds in summers? I am talking in context of that ambient temperature chart which people usually post in support of thicker oils.please guide

Please do not follow that stupid chart. Emgine optimum working temperature is 90 degrees.

For CVT will 4L oil one tine be enough? I am thinking not to change it from Toyota as they usually loot the customers by asking them to provide 1L extra and charge 3500 for just oil change. This is totally unfair labor charges to change a gear oil only

Yes 4L would be enough. Only use toyota cvt-fe oil.
You don't need to open cvt oil I would recommend that you visit the lube shop: +923003200600. Ask them to change cvt oil in the same way they did it for my car, but its better that you change cvt oil in late December. Temperature will be below 20 so oil leveling will be easier.

@haseeb.basharat Thanks, i got a better understanding about the oil change process through above article.

Will try with the lube shop that you mentioned in December. Gear shifting is smooth as of now and i don't drive that much on average might be 1000-1500km in one month so its not a big deal to wait till December.

@haseeb.basharat. One more thing Brother, if we use genuine Oil filter what would be the impact. In any way if i go for Total Quarts 9000 5w30 i will drain it at 5000km so can why not use Gaurd oil filter instead.

Use genuine oil filter only. Purchase it from partscentral I shared above. It will cost you around 1000rupees. Oil will cost you around 3200-3400. Still it will cost you less then 1rs/km for mantainance. All other filters like guard and leppon doesn't work better for this engine. Please do not compromise on filters. Filters works at micron level.

Gear will remain smooth all the way to 1 lac kms. Do remember that cvt oil won't cost much, but cvt failure will put a dent on your pocket. I have driven my 2016 1.8 cvti all the way upto 93k kms and I have changed cvt oil twice.

as per guidance of felows like u and esp @Xulfiqar i have already shifted from 20w50 toyota petron to total 9000 5w30 api sn fully synthetic on my Corolla. car is ma sha Allah very smooth now and mileage has jumped up by at least 2 digits kpl.

I was just worried about summers as I have kept this car for long journey highway travel only. will 5w30 hold up in summers on motorway high speeds as according to that ambient temp chart 5w30 is good only till 35 Celsius outside temp.

Please ignore that chart, engine optimum working temperature is 90 degrees. Engine cooling system mantains it perfectly. Even 0w20 is made to run at 90 degrees but that isn't a part of our owner's manual.
Toyota IMC is making a fool out of customers by showing that chart which doesn't make any sense. Keep on using 5w30 and there won't be an issue InshAllah.

I drove my car in south punjab at 45 degree celcius at 120km/h. I didn't face any issue. Use original filter and oil only. Change at 5k kms.

Dear, today i changed my CVT oil from the lubeshop. Its 72k on Odo now. The lubeshop changed the Cvt oil. First they drain the oil which is almost 2.6L by first opening the nut and then pulling out the tube. Same quality was poured in back and then they started the car shifted gear from P to D and then again back to D so that the temperature should reach to 45. Again they opened the drain nut and get some oil out. Which is they called is extra oil.

I am confused that why they have not repeated this process as it was mentioned in below thread to repeat step from 6 to 9 three times.

Very very unfortunate. If they did what I understand that with no oil in pan they started the car? If that's what they did..... It was very wrong.

they didn't open the pan. First they wait for the vehicle cool down and then they opened the nut. Almost 2 liters came out. then they pulled the tube another half liter came out which they took in a flask.

Then they put the nut and tube back and poured the same amount of oil. Then they asked me to start the car and i shifted gear from P to D and then D to P slowly. The car was remain started.

Then again the opened the nut and pulled out the oil which they said was extra oil. At that time the temperature of pan was 45 degree. They said the oil expanded and this is the extra oil which they drained in 2nd step.

Then they put the nut back and told me that process is completed now.
