I agree but if the belts or pulleys get contaminated, they might need something.

if belt is contaminated with oil - replace it, if its worn - replace it.

If pulleys are contaminated, clean them thoroughly, brake cleaner spray works nice - but if you have chunks of belt stuck to belt grooves, use a pick or something sharp to pick out all debris before cleaning all pulleys - then install new belt.

I don't remember the exact price as it was a while ago, but I think it was around rs450. Bought two tubes from Nasir motors Plaza, Karachi.

Can someone please recommend grease for pajero sunroof? Some mechanic told me not to use ordinary grease as it catches dust easily resulting in rubber damage and leaking of sunroof.

sunroof grease is sold by Audi dealers in Pakistan in a small tube. Honda and Toyota dont sell it in small package in retail market.

you can use a silicone grease there, but its not applied with finger - its painted on with a tiny artist brush on the rails only after a very very thorough cleaning.

If the cable mechanism is jammed with dirt you need to remove the entire unit and clean it out first. Do not use the silicone grease on the cable unit - it takes a PAO type grease.

I have the following grease at my disposal. Which out of the two would be better suited to lubricate the propeller shaft spider joints of a Hilux, Fortuner, LandCruiser?

Mobilith SHC 220 red-lithium complex synthetic grease
From the manufacturer:
Mobilith SHC 220 is a multi-purpose, NLGI 2 extreme pressure red-lithium grease recommended for heavy-duty automotive and industrial applications. It uses an ISO VG 220 synthetic base fluid. Mobilith SHC 220 has a recommended operating temperature range of -40 C* to 150 C.

Mobil XHP 222 blue-lithium complex grease
From the manufacturer:
Mobilgrease XHP 222 is recommended by ExxonMobil for industrial and marine applications, chassis components and farm equipment. Its sticky formulation stays in applications longer.

The Mobilith SHC 220 has a synthetic base oil and a dropping point of 265C. While the XHP 222 is a mineral oil-based grease with a dropping point of 280C. Both seem very good to me for propeller shaft u-joint lubrication.

However, if we were to choose, which would be more preferable?

For the Slip-joints, I plan to use Mobil XHP 462 Lithium-Moly (3%) grease.

Both are good. Synthetic works better in winter

yes - the caliper pins are only to be lubed with silicone grease. Using any other grease there will cause jamming and failure.

wash out all old grease (you dont know what that is - maybe dalda ghee in Pakistan) - and apply silicone grease. I would suggest to buy a new rubber kit for your caliper too if its old. (the rubber would be swollen if petroleum grease was being used on it)

Use cotton swabs and brake clean spray.

Btw, the entire rubber boot kit is sold by Toyota, it should cost Rs 7000 in today exchange rate, the kit will be for a pair of calipers
