Help needed for Naran Skardu trip july- 2018

Dear all ,

please help required,

i want to conver from naran to skardu in single day , will plan toleave early from naran around 6 AM , can i reach skardu upper kachura around at 8 PM, My itinaray below

Day1 ISB to naran ,
Day2 , saifulmalook etc
Day3 naran to skardu - upper kachura
Day4 Explore sok , upper lower kachura
Day5 - Deosai
Day6 basho valley
Day7 manthoka ,shigar , khamoush
Day8 - Saling , hanjour
Day9 - kharphochu ,
Day10- naran
Day11- naran
Day12- ayoubia

If you leave Naran early, yes you can reach Skardu by nightfall or earlier.

hi there,
I visited most of these areas in sep-oct last year.
I am assuming you will be driving your own car or with one or more drivers. not sure which car will be.
1- isb to naran - it will take you approx 8 hrs. there isn't much to watch (as compared to the destinations you have in the list) except Shogran which needs a full day to cover siri paye area. if you leave at late night and reach shogran early mornign and cover that and leave for naran in after noon then u can cover it without wasting additional day.
2. saif ul malook is must visit place if you are in that area, go around the lake and make sure your jeep guy give u enough stay time.
3. naran to skardu - its a long travel, on paper this doesn't look so long but due to road conditions your speed average speed will be 40km/h so it will take whole day and keep in mind never choose astore road to reach skardu if you are not using a 4x4.
FYI - FWO has started work in sept to wide this road as few of the bridges were already completed in oct and they completion time is 2 yrs.
4 - i will say if u start from naran in morning and u will reach skardu in evening and shangrilla lake is closed after 5pm so i will suggest u do shangrilla upper kachura lake and skardu exploration in one day.
5 - a must go place in skardu area - see if u can camp there for night - that will be best experience in your life
6 - dont know much about it
7 - mathoka very nice place but i dont think u should add shigar with it as both are in different directions, u can add khamoush with it and u can add cold deserts (katpana and sarfraranga ) with shigar.
8 - dont know about it
9 - i will suggest not to allocate a full date Kharpochu fort in this day as there is not much do

1. i am traveling from ISB till naran on single day without stop , will not explore shogran ,
traveeling with my family of 20 including kids as well in saloon class A/C coaster from pindi till skardu

3. agree boss , naran to skardu will take no less than 12 hours , with few stays , as it will be hactic day for kids and females , so we should need to stay for leg streching and T and namaz
4. yes , i will reach skardu in later in eveninig , i will explore sok vally , lower and upper kachura next day
5. yes will take 4*4 for garum chasma , kala chasma , shesar lake , satpara lake whole day excursion
6. basho valleey is very beautifull to spend time
7. i left skardu early morning cover shigar fort then go to manthoka and khamoush , i will stay at khaplu at noght ,,,,,,,,, katpana is on te way to sighar right ??????
8. saling is hot spring , hanjour is meadows
9. need to take rest on this day only do khaprochu and bazar , as next day we need to travell long for naran

please let me know about katpana is on the way to shigar ??

one more question , do we need to carry lunch boxes to deosai ??

No need there are tent hotels at the top

I am travelling with kids and family of around 22 , can these tent will accomodate us all , and provide food stuff like lunch , karahi chips Tea etc ?

Yes, tour operators take about 100 tourist, all are fed well.

Also please let me know about the stop overs between naran and skardu for lunch and break fast ?
I need one for lunch when coming from naran to skardu and one for break fast when came back , as i will leave cery early from both area ( naran , skardu )

Go via Astore & Deosai if you are traveling in a 4x4. Much shorter route and added advantage of scenic beauty of Deosai. You can reach Skardu before Maghrib if you use this route. Happy travels...

Coaster has a reasonably good ground clearance. Main Skardu Road which is an artery of KKH is under construction though and in very bad shape. It will be very difficult to travel on it. Please plan accordingly.

I don't see any issues in crossing Deosai from Astore side apart from one Abshaar on Astore Chilum Chowki Road. I think that it is manageable.
