I have a 2004 civic exi prosmatec. Before the COVID-19 outbreak, the stock D15Y3 engine was costing me 45,000, now it's well over 50-60K. Adding to this
1) I wont know it's compression
2) How many kms it has covered
3) If it was ever decently maintained
4) What kind of parts were used for its maintenance (pakistani,Chinese,Japanese)
And so on. And I decided for an overhaul, with maximum brand new OEM Japanese parts. This is costed me around 40,000 (labor included)
With an overhauled engine, atleast you will have an ease of mind, that no jugars will be made, everything will be brandnew, and that your engine will be like new for atleast 10 years.
Why spend a potential 100K for a "new" engine and more for its repairs, when you can save half of the amount, and spend half of the amount back into your vehicle to bring it back into life.?
Also, is your fan auto or direct? Does it have the thermostat valve installed? And are you using water or proper coolant in your radiator? And what grade oil are you using, XW-XX?
But otherwise, the money is yours. Spend it wisely.
